Such a lovely piece, Dunja :) I remember seeing the birds being tethered to the necklace a long time ago and I remembered the feeling, which still re-occurs now to me, of our own unrealized desires, of our own dreams that we can't make true, because of circumstances and what not.... We all carry such necklace, I think, and I loved how this picture makes me feel at once desirous of wanting to set the birds free, but also realizing that there will always be things that we are bound to. Freedom can be an illusion, indeed.

To be personal, when I saw this artwork, I was reflecting on my desire to pursue art as a career but that I am way too comfortable and well compensated in my current profession in a corporate world, and I could set my bird free to brave the challenges of being an artist, but circumstances such as having a mortgage and other responsibilities have been tethering the bird to my necklace, .... I love pieces of art that makes me think and feel as your pieces are often do <3
