BREAKING: Vancouver Police Are Using Prediction Technology For Pre Crime Arrests!

in #news7 years ago

Remember the film Minority Report?

Well the Vancouver Police Department has just made that fictional concept a reality for Canadians as they have just become the first police force in all of Canada to implement new crime prediction technology.

In this video

Dan Dicks of Press For Truth outlines the lies and contradictions displayed by the VPD as well as the obvious and not so obvious potential areas for abuse with this new technology.

This is a very concerning trend. Bummer about the YT review issue as well.

Cool.

You won't think so when they use it on you.

Good job doing Canadian police

Minority report is getting real. Its not bad, but they should resp. our f... privacy

Terrorism and Islamic/third world immigration are turning Western countries into authoritarian dictatorships.

Why can't the police go to a location where a crime is expected to happen and steak it out? To see if it actually happens. If it happens arrest the person if it doesn't then leave people alone. What if the criminal changes their mind and decides not to commit the crime they initally planned on commiting. They are taking a human beings free will away and arresting people on what could of been instead of what did happen.

@pressfortruth..nice to see your..talking about technology..when i have been scholling at the school..technology is my favorite lesson..but a time said Time said another .. i am continuing my education in the language course. So I am currently a language teacher ..good informasion for me..i always read about technology..thank bro

I hope english isn't one of the languages you teach. ;)

Thanks for sharing. I live in Vancouver and this is pretty disturbing to hear that they will be targeting people. The authority seems to be infringing on our freedom more and more everyday.

Amen. Maybe this started with good intentions but thus should have been shut down long ago.

Especially in the crypto space, do we really trust the government to make decisions? Let alone decisions based on pre-crime...

@cipher The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Central banks and governments are using the threat of terrorism as an excuse to crack down on Crypto currency. They see it as a big threat to their monopoly on the financial system.

The authorities aren't worried. What are Canadians going to do? Revolt?? Get real.

The only time you see a revolt in Canada is when HNIC them song from 30 years gets caught in a legal mess. Now that is worth rioting about !! Or when the Canucks lose the cup.

STEEM On!!

Wow, science-fiction is quickly becoming science fact!

Not totally yet. Elon Musk says he can't build a landing module to carry humans and land on Mars. So we will have to live with the science fiction of the moon landings for awhile yet.

Maybe in 10 years Elon's space team will be able to land human's on the moon or Mars

Really cool post @pressfortruth .

I know in Norway police would often just "lock up" (in parenthesis because the rooms would be more like hotels) the worst criminals with the worst records of theft going into Easter holidays. because that would significantly lower theft in that period.

So guess it is already being done to a lesser extent :p

Talk about over sensationalizing...

They are not arresting people for being in the "wrong place at the wrong time". He said the arrests were for criminals who breached bail agreements etc. Lots of bail agreements state that you can't be carrying certain types of tools if you are a B&E offender etc. They are not going to arrest average Joe for wearing gloves on a cold night in an area where there was a "crime prediction".

This doesn't even seem that high tech or new. Police departments have been using predictive analysis for a very long time... Even before computers they used crime trends to determine where their officers should be dispatched. It sounds like they have just improved on the tech/algorithms.

I like your reporting for the most part but I really think you have a biased opinion on this one. I can obviously see how this type of tech could be abused.. but do you really not see that this could be used for good?

Oh, they have trolls on Steemit too now? ;) This is a real issue. More so for what it may lead to. If you're not a troll and don't see that, open your eyes. It's time to wake up - BEFORE things get out of hand.

Go get your tinfoil hat before the government reads your thoughts.

no. The government doesnt do that. the aliens do. 😂

or you are just that stupid .

You should take your tinfoil hat off, so it can allow real facts of information get into your head. News flash dufis this is very real . Try using those weak fingers and google dipstick.

*Doofus

Anyways I am not denying it isn't real. I am in the tech sector. I know how these prediction algorithms work. It's not as fancy as you think. Just predictive pattern matching based on human behavior. Happening for a very long time but now they developed some fancy software to make it seem more advanced then it is.

Unlike you I have an open perspective for these types of technologies. The dangers that OP is alluding to are pretty far-fetched.

Police departments have been using predictive analysis for a very long time..

You're right

I can obviously see how this type of tech could be abused..

The problem is we have no way of knowing the preventive measures in place to ensure it will never be abused. Who is overseeing this like an ombudsman or 3rd party agency?

do you really not see that this could be used for good

Too many people focus on the good, which eventually leads to abuse eventually. That's the problem.
