Life is hard for everyone, and this fact holds true for both humans and animals. I feel everyone deserves some amount of pampering, love and care.

India is a country has known and recognized for its hospitality not just towards people, but also towards our animal friends. Most are thinking that only humans have the privilege to go to spa anytime we want. But don’t you know that in Kerala Southern India elephants are also given the privilege to enjoy a relaxing day at the spa every month of July. july is a month of rejuvenation in India and it's not just humans but animals also. The state of Kerala has set up an elephant spa in Guruvayur.

This elephant sanctuary, which is also known as ‘Aanakotta’, meaning Elephant Fort was previously a palace. This Aanakotta can host up to 59-60 elephants. The locals pamper these giant mammals with massages, spa, and ayurvedic food that helps them rejuvenate. A lucky group of elephants gets to enjoy and relax a day full of pampering at this spa. This is their lucky day and it comes every year in the month of July. The elephants who form the major part of processions at the Guruvayurappan Hindu Temple are allowed to enjoy one full day of luxury. They are given a day off from work to sit back and just relax.elephant-camp-sancutary.jpg

Every year a group of pampered elephants at the Punnathoor Cotta Elephant Yard Rejuvenation Centre receive elaborate spa treatments. The elephant yard is attached to the Guruvayurappan Hindu temple in Kerala, India.Every July in Southern India, a group of elephants enjoy the kind of spa day humans would pay good money for. The gigantic residents of Punnathur Kotta Elephant Yard in Guruvayur are treated to massages, baths and nutritious foods. The elephants are hosed down, scrubbed clean, massaged and fed nutritious snacks by a horde of workers, watched by an interested crowd. The elephants are treated with sanctuary treat ‘Sukha Chikitsa’ i.e. ayurvedic therapies by the sanctuary. The special treatments include soothing massages, lavish scrub baths, carefully selected diet and herbal tonics that rejuvenate the elephants and keep them healthy.
