Grand Gulf State Park hike
I've lived in Missouri for the past 18 years now and I had never been here and it was only about a 20 minutes drive away. We did both the stairs to the bottom and the loop trail through the woods.
Some shots from the observation platform at the top
We went on the not-quite-a-mile long trail through the woods first. Not going to lie, I thought that would be the trail taking us to the bottom
Unknown mushroom on the trail
Found this little guy on the trail. Not sure what kind of mushroom it is but if you know please let me know. I would be nice to identify it at least.
Shortly after taking this picture something rustled ahead of us and startled us a bit. Turned out to be some young deer scampering away before I could get a picture.
We finished the loop and went on the other trail which is really 119 steps down to the bottom.
A few shots on the way down to the bottom of the stairs
These little guys were everywhere once we got to the bottom
Hums Tetris music
Definitely going to keep this place in mind and come back to it every so often. It's not too far and a nice little place to hike.

Update

You got some nice pictures!! That's one of our favorites to visit!
I knew it was there all this time, just never took the time to go check it out. Going to go back in Fall to see the colors
Spectacular place, and post. Love the butterflies, sadly I rarely see butterflies in Norway.
Thank you. That's too bad, theyre really nice and those were gentle and kept fluttering by if they weren't just staying in the ground
That gorge was the last place I would have expected to those butterflies. Very cool. I just posted an article on some hiking I did on the Isle of Skye. If you're interested, I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

I have always been fascinated by those bent trees. I lived in Missouri for a long time and never visited either, so I'll have to check it out next time I'm there!
