The mainstream media is going to keep harping on about trade tariffs ignoring the much more important developments taking place. The 3 month Libor rate used in short term loans is rising faster than the Fed's rate hikes hitting companies and banks.
Look at how the 3 month Libor rate has spiked since the new year.
The current 3 month Libor rate at 2.29 is at its highest since 2009.
The chart below from Bloomberg shows the progress of the 3 month Libor rate since the economic crisis of 2008.
Spikes in the 3 month rate often indicators of financial stress as short term borrowing becomes more expensive.
Morgan Stanley has come out and stated that rising private borrowing costs are the real reason for the volatility in markets this year. If this trend continues be prepared for more market turmoil. It will be interesting to see how the Fed responds if this key benchmark rate continues to rise.
Thanks for explaining the weirdness. Before market opened it looked like a call day for spy, now it looks like a put, but too many weird things going on. Looks like it's time to plant a victory garden

I agree... So I did nothing--froze instead of changing logic for the put and now the puts are up against resistance.... I wonder what Greg did with his 262 SPY CALLS for Apr 13th that he opened before market closed on Thursday? Did he close them at the open today with a big loss (on small position) since his board was wiped off???
Sorry, just now read this reply. Still not familiar with how steemit works. I don't recall what happened there. I don't always understand what Greg is doing. There were a few times in the last month or so where he bought/sold just at market close and didn't post,but informed on his post market blog. I've been out of the market for several weeks to work on other things. It is so volatile I don't get into an option unless I can baby sit it to the end.
