Mindfulness at Work
Why are so many people touting the benefits of mindfulness in general and mindfulness at work in particular?
One clear answer is the modern world we live presents a constant stream of bad news. It seems even when we attempt to block the bad news one unsettling chaos after another seeps in.
For millennia people with a mindfulness practice have found the ability to find peace of mind, blocking the chaos, for a little while. People with a mindfulness practice attest to feeling refreshed and reinvigorated each time they make time to quiet their mind.
Now, if you are living on an island where you swim in isolated lagoons or maybe you spend your days gently swinging in a hammock below the rainforest canopy, then you have found a sort of mindfulness by being in the environment you chose to live in.
For those of us living in the urban centers of the world, London, New York, Kolkata finding and sticking with a mindfulness practice are tailor made for you.
Thank you @artjones. This reminds me that I need to take time to do this each day. It's hard to stay on track. I joke that "I live in a blender stuck on puree" and mindfulness really does help!
Thank you @kimmydee, I agree! Research says the attention span of people today is 9 seconds (the attention span of a goldfish). Mindfulness requires work. This post is a reminder to me, to practice more often. Have a great week!
