Touch Is the Way to Happy Relationships

in #massage6 years ago

Yesterday I went to see a naprapathic doctor. An experienced practitioner who treats sports injuries and works with the local soccer team. He treated me for a back problem and after a while touched on the subject of mindfulness. I told him I'm currently writing a book on mindfulness.

"There should be a massage table in every home" he said. My curiosity raised as I listened to what he was saying.

"Elderly people should do massage on each other. And couples should spend an hour every day massaging each other. With candles and soft music. It is easy, buy a book on massage and you are good to go. It would make a huge difference for people."

"That's what I'm doing!", I replied. "I'm writing a book about mindfulness and touch and happy relationships." We continued to elaborate on the subject and he wholeheartedly encouraged me to continue my work.

Afterwards I was very happy and realised how important it is to meet with people who believe in your ideas.

We forget just how important touch and sharing of energy is. Thanks for posting this lovely story. Good luck with your book x

Thank you very much for your feedback, much appreciated! :)

Absolutely correct! Though an hour of massage is probably unrealistic for 99% of the population of humans, there is certainly a lack of touch in many relationships!

Yes you are right, one hour is not very realistic considering how stressful life can be. I think that introducing moments of touch, with awareness, can make a difference. Like hugging for 30 seconds and really be there with each other. Or a 5 minute touch practice. I have experienced how good I feel both when touching and getting touch in a conscious way. So this is what I am working on now, writing a book with a collection of touch practices. I realise when reading your comment how important it is to include many short practices. Many thanks for your input! :)
