People behave strangely around death. My visit to Yinka's house was an eye opener. Mama Yinka was quiet, she stared into the ground like her husband would pop out of it any moment. Those eating, made the place look like some sort of celebration other than a mourning period. Some gathered and talked about their businesses, for some it was the place they re united after a long time of not seeing each other. Some talked about the deceased while some of us had find solitude in silence.

I kept re playing the scene in my head as I perambulate from one part of the house to the other. I couldn't understand most of those people and that was exactly what i told grandma when i saw at the front porch.

"We all mourn differently," grandma said. "One thing I can assure you is they all miss him," she added.

I nodded in agreement. I could remember the moment i saw Yinka, I couldn't read his face but i was terrified. I could feel the anger radiating off him. He motioned to me to come with him, so he walked me back to my car.

"You didn't have to come," he said. His voice brittle.

"I am sorry." I mumbled. I looked him in the eye and he looked away, he was almost in tears.

"My grandma said when you lose a love one, you gain a personal angel in heaven." "I know your Dad is with you now and he would be watching over you." I said, moving closer to him. I wanted to comfort him because he was in tears, crying like my kid sister does in the middle of the night. I hugged him for a long time while he cried, I didn't know when the tears dropped from my eyes too.

I was happy I came around. I could here his heartbeat slow down as he stopped crying. The hiccups were better too. We sat in my car for a while, he looked out the window into the oblivion. I wished I could read his mind and take his pains away.

I don't remember the last time I said a prayer for someone other than my family but that evening, looking at his already pale face. I said a silent prayer to God. It was a urgent prayer. I also prayed he would treat this prayer with urgency because I want Yinka to smile again. He has to.

I eventually settled by the pool after leaving grandma to go rest, the weather was cool and dewy. I liked it.

I need to ask father for a favour, He has to accept so i need the timing to be perfect. He's been staying home recently and mom had never been so happy. I think the perfect timing would be when those two are together, I thought. That's when i will ask for my favour. I also had to make sure grandma wasn't present she wouldn't be in support.
