MIXED EMOTIONS: How to Create a Mindset to Live Happily Ever After

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Our daily life is full of thoughts and emotions and most of us live it so fast that we are not in a position to really see and experience the things that happen and to realize why they happen. In other words, we rarely or almost never stop to smell the roses to deeply feel the emotions they create...so we fail to evaluate the good experiences, to filter them and keep them for future reference.

This way, whatever good happens into our lives, we consider it us something usual or even insignificant or even boring and predictable.

We usually keep all the bad stuff that happens, we repeat them by talking about them again and again and we nug about our bad luck, feeling miserable, spending our days blaming others for our own bad luck.

We should realize that happiness starts from our actions and happiness is actually a conscious option.

Happiness does not only represent the things that we live every day but it is also a memory of all the good things that have already happened into our lives.

We should start realizing the fact that mindfulness is not just a mental yoga game but it is the absolute and deep consciousness of the things that we live right at this moment and this moment can be easily transformed into all kinds of beautiful feelings about ourself or the other people around us and even from past memories.

So, start practicing the memory of happiness by doing the following; first realize the moment, then evaluate it, remember again, live the good moment and this way you will feel full of all the beautiful things that life teaches you to appreciate.

The memory of happiness is a gift which shows us the way to realize why we are alive and why we must love life itself without complaining about it.

Mindfulness helps a lot but don't just live for the moment, combine the present with good old experiences.

Live your life for all the good moments that have already happened, be open, feel appreciation, stop taking everything for granted and start anticipating for the great moments that are yet to come.

Create a happy place from good memories and remember not to visit it only when you need it, just like you would do when taking your painkiller. Our happy places are not drugs, neither they are given, they must be honored because they represent who we are. If something is a given, is not exciting and we usually forget its existence.

Happy places must be a lifestyle choice, an honored way of living, an everyday place of good memories sharing them with ourselves.

I have found that the 7 day mental diet works amazingly well for this.

Sorry for the late reply @in2itiveart - too busy lately with many different things...

I believe that the 7-day mental diet is the only diet someone would ever need.

Very nice book by the way...however, 7 days are not enough, but after all, a diet is a diet - it has a starting point, it finishes and then it begins again...

You really get me :)

hey @vivianupman - i did the 7day mental diet rigorously as described in 2007 and was not able to be strict about it ever since, although I try to refer back to it if I need to - but having DONE the diet - having been a person who was SOOOOO negative, I feel like it put a white card between me and depths of despair - so now I don't have to go there anymore but sometimes it takes work... but it's never been that hard since the diet. - sweet of you to say "I get you" - I appreciate that!
