Parenting Tip for CoViD-19 Lockdown Burned-out Families

Are you stressed out because your kids are forced to study at home because of the lock-downs, shelter-in-place orders and quarantines? Are your kids almost as stir-crazy as you?

If that's the case, follow these inexpensive instructions for some fast relief.

  1. Go to the store and buy swimming pool noodles. Make sure they're not particularly firm and are definitely flexible to prevent injury by all but the most violent (and strong) people. I picked up thinner noodles from Big Lots for $2 each. PLEASE don't buy egg noodles, mie, spaghetti, linguini, penni, macaroni or any other kind of noodles or pasta! ;)
  2. Take your family outside or somewhere with a lot of space indoors with nothing breakable (including ceiling lamps and fans).
  3. Each person takes one noodle.
  4. Count to three or say, 'Ready, set, go!" and start swinging your noodles at each other.
  5. Don't get too violent and sometimes curl up on the ground and let the kids treat you like whack-a-mole.

Guaranteed stress release and, as a bonus, it gets you all out of the house and gives you much-needed exercise! I did this with my son today and wore his little butt out! ;)
