Photography lessons to celebrate getting old

in #life6 years ago (edited)

I’m becoming somewhat aged.

I like to think that I’m ageing in the manner of a fine wine. My wife would probably scoff at that statement however.

So to celebrate the effects of ageing my wife bought me a photography course. This time a landscape photography course rather than the usual wildlife photography that I’ve been doing for a number of years now.

The course was today, and may have created a new and highly expensive addiction. What a fantastic style of photography! And so incredibly versatile in its application.

I’m freaking hooked. The only problem is that all the gear that I need to start taking landscape photos will cost me something along the lines of $2000. And my wife is rather keen on saving for a house deposit rather than having me blow all my income on shiny new toys.

So I have on my hands here a little pickle. Should I suffer the wrath of my lovey wife or impress her with my financial prowess?

Please help me decide.

We will chat at the meet..what gear are you after? There's an excellent camera store in the central markets that should have some second hand stock.

I know the one. :)

I need a super wide lens (the Sigma 12 - 24mm Art Series looks pretty good), some polarising and ND filters, and a solid tripod.

I have a Sigma 10-20 f/2.8, for APS-C sensors, Nikon F mount. Solid tripods aren't super necessary, you can anchor one with a sandbag, hook, or rocks.

The most important part is having tight controls on the tripod head to ensure things are steady once you've zeroed in your composition.

I'll bring my gear to the next Steem meet so you can have a play if you're going to be there. :)

The tripod I was using yesterday was slightly annoying. I totally get needing one with tight controls. I'll definitely try to get to the next meet up. It looks like the next meet up is on the 28th of Feb. I should be around for that one. :)

The human body, in which I am currently in will be 27 years old on 2019.09.17.
Does it (my current physical body) count as aged?
I write like this, because the physical human body, in which you currently are is getting old, not you.

There is no such thing as time in reality.
Or at least not in this sense.
Time is only related to this physical world, not the real reality.
The physical body is not you. You just use it.
Our souls/conciousness are eternal.
We lived before our physical human bodies came to existence, and we will live after our human bodies die.
So there is no such thing as death.
Or at least not like (in the form as) most people are imagine it.
There is physical death, where the physical body dies, but we don't die.
That is not end of us. That is just a transition.
At the time of the death of our physical human bodies, we (our soul/consciousness) will continue to live on.

Want proof? See this. That is the website of the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation (NDERF).
There are more than 4000 NDEs (Near-Death Experiences) on the website.
Currently (2019.02.17, 12:05 CET) there are 4621 NDEs on the website, and it is constantly/regularly updated.
Check this webpage for the current/recent NDEs.
Most of these experiences are very positive, and most of the people are feeling endless, unconditional, infinite love and wellbeing (without any pain) after they separate from the physical human bodies.
There are also neutral and negative (or partly negative) experiences as well, but that is certain that we continue to live on.

Don't bring me into this fight mate haha. Looking forward to seeing more great photos from you now :)

I once worked at Canon Australia and had access to 1/2 price gear out of the warehouse, I miss those days. But you can always find alternatives, check out a few second hand alternatives and start out small, good luck.

Half price canon gear... that would have been amazing.

Check out places like Camera House for pre-loved cameras. Most of my stuff is second hand and does the job, not that I've done much in the way of landscapes.

Maybe find a middle ground with your wife? Give her a peace offering of some sort.

Will definitely look for second hand gear. Might even look at some grey imports. :)

I love landscape photography, its my favorite thing to do, especially by the water as in your shot, Not sure i should give any advise as my advise would most likely get you into trouble lOL

The wife actually seems weirdly supportive of me blowing some cash on gear. :)
