Individuation: Making the Darkness Conscious

in #life6 years ago

Inner growth may be a frightful and abstract process, but it is the most meaningful one.

"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making darkness conscious." -CG Jung

Greetings, pretty Lady Ladyofliberty

Pretty cool video. You're Jungian psychoanalyst??? I'm a psychologist, though, my line is cognitive behavioral therapy. In relation to your video and the process of individuation, we really only begin to ripen when we know the aspects of our shadow. All that is hidden in us, tends to appear abruptly if we do not know it. When knowledge occurs, that aspect ceases to be hidden and we learn to deal with it.

There are good parts of the shadow and bad. There are questions we only discover during adversity. For example, I just found out that I like to cook, because I live alone and I had this need. However, our bad side can also appear only in aversivas situations. I've been there, and today I'm beginning to understand these issues.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Good night and thanks for the video!!!!

Greeting Juliano!

Thank you! Yes, I discovered Carl Jung in the strangest way and since then I've been more than inspired by his work. That is fascinating though, cognitive behavioral therapy.. I'll definitely follow your work!

I feel what you're saying. I actually want to make another video soon about the shadow and it's importance. It's definitely terrifying sometimes facing it, but as you said we can only really ripen when we recognize our shadow. It may be a "dark" archetype of the Self, but it's leading us to light.. if only we would follow it.

Thanks for the comment and upvote, have a good night yourself :)

keep on pushing with the challenges...on that dreamy level. I think we need a certain introspection, We are what we are!

I think that it is important for you to do this because propaganda can be negative but you are good vibes!

Thank you so much @jonnyrevolution! Agreed, individual growth and responsibility are like the engine of moral progress.

"Without change, something sleeps inside us. The sleeper must awaken"-Duke Atreides, Dune. "I feel like I'm having the most beautiful dream and the most horrible nightmare." "I have no idea where this will lead us. But I have a definite feeling it will be a place both beautiful and strange."-Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks. There's a lot of JUngian psychoanalysis in the work of DAvid Lynch. I don't know if you are familiar but you if you are not, you should definitely check out Twin Peaks and as many of his films as possible. Kubrick too; Kubrick is a great director to analyze.

Good video though. I am really into Jungian psychoanalysis. Individuation is an important process. I feel the best art is naturally a coming together of the light and dark, masculine and feminine, black and white, etc. and only through understanding that dark side more can we better grasp and control it.

On another note, do you like DTube? I have never used it but looks like there are more people on there than BitChute. I have also been hearing good things about BitTube where apparently you can make money from views.

My name is Xylen Roberts and I am an auteur (musician, writer, serio comedian, conspiracy theorist, philosopher). Check out my channel for interesting content :)

Thanks @xylenroberts! Those are some really great and complementing quotes for individuation. I appreciate you sharing them. I will admit I am pretty uncultured when it comes to films, but you've got me interested in checking Kubrick and David Lynch's work out. Seems like something I would be into.

I also agree about art, it plays a huge role in being able to express such powerful and sometimes dark emotions that otherwise might consume us if not for such beautiful and creative mediums.

And I actually have not heard of BitTube but I'll have to check it out. I do really like DTube, especially since its directly linked to Steemit. I'm not sure if its on my ends but sometimes I do have issues or bugs uploading videos, which can be frustrating, but other than that I really like it. Definitely still better than YouTube.

Anywho, thanks for all the thorough feedback! I followed you and look forward to seeing more of your content :) Good stuff!

Id like to add that the process of individuation is a continuous one over a lifetime of awareness. I don't think there is a beginning or end.
I think that individuation is a path that we can choose to take or try and detour away from it at any given moment.
The longer you stay on the path, the more you will be challenged to grow. The longer you stay off the path, the more suffering you accumulate.
However, I've found that no matter how far out or how long you dwindle in the dark alleys, you can always return to the path of light once you're tired of suffering.
I the richest rewards will be reaped if we can choose to forge the habit of staying on the path longer and cultivate a willingness to acknowledge and overcome weakness more often. We all have a fully functional compass inside of us and its called our emotions where true north is Love and the map is the patterns that we manifest.

@nthaxis why thank you so much for your kind words and feedback!

I resonate with what you're saying. It is an endless process that one will never finish in their lifetime because even if you get to the greatest peak.. there's always going to be more room for growth! It's hard as a human to acknowledge the non-linear nature of consciousness.

It seems as you make this journey, things actually get harder, not easier. But it's a worthy trade-off as you become stronger and wiser, things become more meaningful altogether. It's an anomaly that we live in such an anti-pain culture though sometimes pain is needed to break though to new levels of consciousness. I agree though that the suffering can be lessened if one makes the effort to consistently follow their intuition and be honest with their self.

You reminded me of a quote I recently stumbled upon: "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it" -Rumi

"Individuation"... You described my last acid trip to a "T". Wow ! Wild and Irrational, it was that.
It seemed it was going to last forever. Thank goodness it ended after 10 years of seeing my dark and scary shadows.
Now I have seen the light and glad to be alive. With this illumination, I have no fear of death.
My only hope now is to leave a legacy that will benefit the future. Thank you for this subject material.

Lol thank you @piewolfe! I can definitely relate to a similar experience on psychedelics. I'm glad I could provide you with some food for thought on the process. As Jung said, there is no coming to consciousness without pain. Glad you made it through brother :)
