Technology vs. Teachers: Can Technology replace teachers?

Computers have overtook humans in almost every field. Nowadays, teachers are using various kinds of modern technologies to teach their students in an more effective way than the traditional method. The days are not far when computers will replace human teachers. But the question arises that, will these computers ever be able to replace teachers? If yes, then will they be effective? Well these questions are concerning and need to be answered.

Accuracy

Computers are undoubtedly more accurate than teachers. But however teachers share their personal experience which helps to develop interest and a knowledge that can't be provided by a computer. This point is always in mind when we think of this topic. However, this can be proved wrong when we see teachers using computers to teach students. These computers require time to set up for particular lessons by the teachers, if there was a computer in place of the teacher it would configure itself automatically without wasting a large amount of time.

Efficiency

Teachers often end up getting distracted and waste some amount of time which can be crucial for some students. But if a robot or some other technology is used in place of a teacher, this distraction would not happen. Computers will be more efficient in their work and schools would not have to pay them regularly. The only payment required will be on its set up, whereas teachers have to be paid regularly and some teachers cost a huge amount of money for lessons.

Keeping in mind the normal human nature, we get bored very easily and tend to loose interest in the subject. This is the place where good teachers are expert at. They know when students will loose interest in the topic and they try to make it more interesting by cracking lame jokes and sharing personal experiences. As far as I think, this is the place where technology will lack and can't overtake teachers. Even if we program them to tackle these situations, they would not be as efficient as teachers.

Keeping track of Student's growth

Computers will be able to keep good track of a Student's growth. But that would wholly depend on the Student's performance in his/her tests. We know that a single sheet of paper would not give us the accurate information of a Student's knowledge. Also there are many other criterias where technology would not be abke to judge students. Whereas teachers are very good at judging students in co-curricular criterias which is very important for the overall development of a student. Like for example, a computer would not be able to judge a Student's speaking skills but a teacher will be accurate and strict in judging the speaking skills of a student and thereby giving suggestions for improvement.

Conclusion

So far discussing about the topic, we might have at many points have thought that replacing teachers with modern technology would be good. But that doesn't seem to be a practical move for at least this moment if time. Emotions is the thing which technology lacks the most. The teacher-student relation or attachment is what has made us literate enough to read this post and understand it. We can use computers in place of teachers if we want to produce computers not good human beings. Students nowadays lack moral values which no computers can give but teachers. So teachers will be over technology, at least for now.
