Slow cooked pork from the pressure cooker with Brazilian rice and a salad.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Today I went to the gym with Bianca as promised yesterday!

It was not easy but we managed to get all our exercises done. (we do train separately).

I'm happy I have not lost strength so I can pretty much start where I left of but I did gain fat.

This needs to go, but it's not always easy (as my blog doesn't lie).

I love life with friends, good food and a drink....it doesn't mix well with steemfat...especially in the weekend.

They say diet plays a very important role in losing weight.

That's why I'm glad Bianca made a food schedule this week.

A meal for every day of the week. (although I already know I will skip two because of obligations).

I got to choose a meal today and went with the lean pork from the pressure cooker.

We cooked it together.

It was delicious.

Let's cook!

Ingredients: A piece of lean pork from the leg (ham?), tomato paste, crushed tomatoes in sauce, corn, red onion, bay leafs, smoked paprika, pepper flakes, rice, orange juice and garlic.

Start with cutting the meat in strips with the grain. You can see it's lean.

Crush garlic and put in the pressure cooker with a little bit of butter and fry for 2 minutes. (don't let it burn!)

Add the meat and fry for 5 minutes.

Add the tomato paste and stir it for 1 minutes then add the orange juice.

Now is time to add the herbs. Add the bay leafs, the pepper flakes and the smoked paprika.

Add the crushed tomatoes and add water until the meat is just under.

Close the lit of the pressure cooker and let it cook for around 30 minutes.

While the meat is cooking you can prepare the rice. I always do it in the Brazilian way Bianca taught me. Add oil and garlic to a pan and add rice. Also add salt. Stir it for 2-3 minutes then add water. Slowly add more water while the rice cooks. It takes about 15-20 minutes.

After 30 minutes the meat looks like this. Leave the lid off but keep boiling the sauce to reduce it while breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon.

When the meat is looking like this add the corn and the red onion. Time to serve!

End Result! The meat was beautiful and soft and not fat at all. We served it with rice and a simple salad with olive oil. It was delicious!

@exyle,
This looks delicious! It looks like a devilled pork. Wow that's pretty great! You made me crazy about it!

Cheers~

The food looks amazingly delicious , It tastes even better if you burn the crushed garlic, try it next time...burnt garlic lends an exciting touch to perfectly cooked food!

If you get it júst right, yes, yum!

When I burn my garlic it always turns very bitter. Is there a secret trick?

Looks delicious @exyle

Fortunately I ate before this and it wasn't torture reading it :)

The witness that knows how to cook. Well I've already voted for you.

I'll be preparing goat meat soup tonight and I'll share some pics if I don't get tired after cooking.

Haha! Thank you and thanks again for your vote for our witness! Enjoy your meal tonight!

I have been craving food all day long. I ate somuch that i got tired, now was about to sleep and then I saw this. I love the Brazillion way of rice, in India we soak it first but this one sounds more logical as oil with sear the rice first. KuDos. Game on! Steem on, sharing this to try at a later date.

They say diet plays a very important role in losing weight.

Diet and sleep are more important than the workout, there are people losing fat and gaining muscle with just 1 workout a week, some with 3 workout, other with 6 workout, there are even some that workout twice a day, but they all have one thing in common, they all sleep at least 6 hours (8h is even better) and they have a meal plan for the whole week

Keep up the good work,

Seems like a relatively simple dish but with all those fine ingredients and from the pics it looks too be a tasty one also, oil and garlic in the pan to cook rice? hmm interesting @exyle

oil and garlic in the pan to cook rice

I used to do it the Dutch way. Boil 2 liters of water, dump rice in wait 15 minutes. Bianca's way is 100 times more flavourful.
