Time the way we see it is a human construct so what we consider the past is actually still very much the present. We've only been around for a small amount of time and in the grand scheme of things, it cannot even be considered the past.
I don't think the next generations of humans will need to be as savvy in archaeology as we had to be to look at what previous generations did because they would have AI and access to a massive neural network we call the internet that would do a pretty good job of piecing together the current human condition and how it progressed up until where they are now
