Adventurer | Photographer | Filmmaker | I'm Will and I Thought I'd Introduce Myself

I am a Seattle-based Photographer, Filmmaker, Animator, Tinkerer, Explorer and D.Tuber/YouTuber. I take pictures and make movies and I'm hoping that the community here is bullish on people like me.
Let's see, a little bit more...... Once a month I make a professional video promo for a person or organization that is doing good in the world (anyone know of a good crowdfunding alternative to Patreon based on the blockchain by chance?) and I crowdfund/personally finance the offset of production costs so it is no charge to them (typical cost is about $1,000 - $2,500, most small businesses/non-profits cannot afford this). I currently use Patreon but I'd prefer to move another part of my life into crypto :P
Let's add a bit more substance to this intro... here's the first vlog (I drive like a maniac to the Alvord Desert in Oregon, shoot the milky way, get some drone views and then pop across the state to the ocean all in 48 hours...)

Let's seeeeee, okay, last things; I recently got back from an expedition in the Arctic on Baffin Island (I'll be posting the trip's vlog soon on d.tube) here are a couple photos from the trip:
I am a guide and will be taking a small group of willing photographers through this area later this year. There are still spots left! Connect with me for more details on that.
Also, if you read this far, we should probably be friends, I fall asleep to Star Trek (TNG), drink a lot of coffee, and am the proud owner of a dadface. I'm excited about all the possibilities that blockchain is bringing to the world and am involved in every way I can be so far. Next up... get at least one node off the ground so I can contribute directly (probably Ether or XMR or something). Please toss me some tips on tags I should check out and folks I can follow of note here.

Awesome man, welcome! As far as I know, you can't embed dtube videos since posting a video makes a whole new post.. Kind of annoying, but you can always post on YouTube or vimeo and then embed. Anyways, glad to see you here! If you ever have questions or anything, my limited knowledge might come to use if need be.
Much appreciated Andrew, yeah, I think some focus on their d.tube integration could be a very solid step toward market grab (allowing the vids to be embedded/linked to/playable in other posts etc). I love the concept behind d.tube so I want to support it as much as possible. Anyway, photos first, I'll feel out the video waters as things progress. Thanks again man.

The first tag you use is very important. It is the only tag you can not edit after you post, the other 4 tags you can change your mind on, but not the first.
There is quite a large group of photographers on steemit, as I am sure you are finding out, not just amateurs but professional ones also, such as @scottshots, (Lake Tahoe Area) and @irvinesimages, (Sedona, AZ), and more those are just the two I could remember off the top of my head.
Along with the links that @mountainwashere provided, a new group has started up with the intent of helping new users get noticed. It generally uses the tag #newbieresteemday. More information can be found out from the primary account of @newbieresteemday, or from @davemccoy, feel free to ask him any question on any of his newbieresteemday post or on any of mine, none of us are whales so we don't bite at people that ask questions on our post.
Thank you! Followed them and I'll get in touch. Curious, what is a 'whale' considered to be on Steemit? I understand the concept elsewhere in crypto/investing in general. Does it just mean someone that has a lot of STEEM POWER? Like they can sway things by using their votes?

Yes a whale has over 1,000,000 million steem power, I think that is the whale level.

I am definitely coming up to Alaska soon I think. Should I wait until early April? Would love to meet up and shoot if you're down. I've only been up once before and spent time around Denali viewpoint/Talkeetna (had to keep going back for some ridiculously good cookies at a breakfast spot there)/Hatcher Pass. Would love to explore a lot more up there.
I'll be here from May 10th through probably June 10th until I leave for summer plans. Definitely wait until at least mid May. Everything starts to bloom and it looks amazing. Any sooner and it's just kind of that weird in between season, warm ish but everything is still dead.
