The first tag you use is very important. It is the only tag you can not edit after you post, the other 4 tags you can change your mind on, but not the first.
          There is quite a large group of photographers on steemit, as I am sure you are finding out, not just amateurs but professional ones also, such as @scottshots, (Lake Tahoe Area) and @irvinesimages, (Sedona, AZ), and more those are just the two I could remember off the top of my head.
          Along with the links that @mountainwashere provided, a new group has started up with the intent of helping new users get noticed. It generally uses the tag #newbieresteemday.
