안녕하세요. 가입 해놓고 한동안 눈치만 보다가 #introduceyourself 라는 자기소개 전용 태그가 있다는 사실을 알게 되어 간단히 끄적여봅니다. 사실, 며칠 보았는데도 여전히 좀 헷갈리지만 일단 뭔가 포스팅을 쓰다보면 익숙히지겠죠...?

저는 학부에서 기계공학을 전공한 뒤 지금은 과학기술정책을 공부-연구 하고있는 대학원생입니다. 조금 더 정확히는 박사과정입니다. 흔히 한국에서 '과학기술정책'을 한다 하면 정책학이나 행정학을 많이 생각하실텐데요 저는 과학사(history of science), 과학기술학(science technology and society, STS), 과학기술인류학 등 인문사회과학의 관점을 바탕으로 하는 공부를 합니다. 제가 이걸 막 잘 한다는 건 아니고 이런 연구를 '지향'합니다...ㅎㅎ.

개인적으로는 요즘 흔히 EdTech이라 부르는 교육기술에 대해 연구합니다. 이걸 개발하고 연구하는 엔지니어는 아닙니다.정확히 말하면 EdTech을 둘러 싼 정부의 정책, 교육현장(특히 선생님들)의 변화, 산업계 (특히 연구/개발에 종사하는 엔지니어분들)가 마주한 현실과 이상, 그리고 서로간의 관계에 관심이 많습니다.

'그래서 뭐 한다는 거임?' 이라는 질문이 나올 법 합니다. 사실 스팀잇에 오면서 여기에는 어떤 이야기를 써볼까나 하는 생각을 한창 했는데요, 이런 포스팅도 간간히 올릴 것 같습니다. 그래서 나의 연구라는게 대체 무엇인가, 나는 누구고 여긴 어딘가, 내가 하는 연구가 OO정책 연구라고 부를 수 있을 만한 것이냐 등등을 끄적여 볼 수 있을 것 같습니다. 일단 큰 떡밥만 던져보자면, 저는 기술과 국가의 관계에 질문을 던집니다. 이렇게 던져놓으면 주워 담으려고 열심히 더 공부를 해서 여기에 뭔가라도 쓰겠죠? 미래의 나, 힘내라(...)

관련해서 팟캐스트 겸 페이스북 페이지, 온라인 인격체 <과학기술정책 읽어주는 남자들> 을 운영합니다. 초영세마이너DIY유닛 '과정남'은 2014년 4월 @testament 와 함께 런칭한 이후 지금까지 어찌어찌 이어가고 있습니다. 숭고한 목적이나 대단한 소명의식 혹은 메여있는 금전적 문제 등이 없이 취미 본위로 하는 활동이고 요즘은 간혹 알아봐주시는 분들이 있어 소소한 즐거움이 있습니다. 저희가 가진 '과학기술정책'에 대한 나름의 문제의식과 그 해석을 풀어내는 컨텐츠이고 본업 이외 남는 시간에만 제작합니다. 본업 대학원생인 제 입장에서는 어찌보면 그냥 공부한 것들을 정리해서 녹음한 파일을 전파로 쏘아내는 작업이기도 합니다. 일반적으로 말하는 과학기술정책보다는 훨씬 넓은 개념으로 과학, 기술, 과학기술인, 국가, 법, 정치, 그리고 정책에 대한 이야기를 합니다.

간단하게 자기 소개만 하자...고 했는데 벌써 길어졌네요. 대학원 생활을 오래 하다보니 글을 짧고 간결하게 쓰는 방법을 까먹은 것 같습니다. 반성합니다.

Hello Steemit! I just begin writing something after a few days of browsing and finding #introduceyourself hashtag. I’m still confused of this space(?) but I may get used to it.

I majored mechanical engineering in undergraduate years and now doing doctoral degree of science and technology policy(STP). Speaking of STP, in South Korea where I live in now, people usually remind of policy studies or public administration. But my academic background stems from more of humanities and social sciences: History of science, science technology and society (STS), and anthropology of science. It does not mean that I’m good at it. I aim to do so 

My personal research interest is targeting EdTech. Remind that I’m studying policy: I am not an engineer who do the research and development on EdTech. Instead, my research focuses on the reality, ideal, and relationship between government policy, education practice (of the teachers in particular), and industry (field engineers in particular) around EdTech.

It makes sense for you to ask me again: “so, what is your study?”. I’ve been worried about what to write here in Steemit and that will be one of the major topic that I will talk about. What is my research, who am I, why I’m here, is that really a policy research… a lot of questions are possible. Just for a foretaste, I’m asking about a relationship between technology and nation. So now I hope I will study more and write something down to retrieve my naïve introduction. Cheer up, myself in the future(…)

With those definition of STP, I’ve been running facebook page and podcast titled <과학기술정책 읽어주는 남자들> (*direct translation: STP Reading Men). This Tiny-little-minor-DIY online persona 과정남 began in April 2014, with @testament. Fortunately(?), we have no big purpose, no noble vocation, and no claim-obligation relationship so it is a purely hobby. Thankfully, some people recognize us recently even in offline. It is a content produced only with residual resources except for our main work. In some way, It is a sort of academic review of what I study. We talk about science, technology, engineers and scientists, nation state, law, politics, and policy in a much broader sense than that of STP commonly perceived.
