RE: Military warns EMP attack could wipe out America, 'democracy, world order'

"The more we relay on electronics in our everyday survival the more in danger we are from and EMP or solar storm that could knock out the power for months or years and would cause millions and maybe even billions to die. It would be wise if the US and other countries spent some of their tax revenue on hardening the power grid from these possible catastrophes."

Or they could take less in taxes from folks that harden their shit. I'd probably love such a tax credit. Doing so would rapidly improve infrastructure, particularly at a granular, individual level, and profit industry commensurately. Surprised GE isn't lobbying for it.

Interesting to note the Carrington Event is not as bad as it can get. It's entirely possible that a stronger event could even scorch the life from Earth altogether, although that's clearly never happened. Since we are alive. Still, there's only so much hardening we can do.

That being said, we should do it. Also, we should generally be competent for such emergencies and stocked as necessary to ensure robust survival. I can go live in the woods in a loincloth, at least until I age out of relevance LOL.

Thanks!
