Learn with Steem|| How to Tye and Dye Fabric by @adylinah
Hello steemians of Steem Skillshare Community. I believe everyone are doing beautifully well. Today, I have another amazing art work to share with you all. Recall that I shared a content on how to dye fabric here some weeks ago (post link). That was a different method and today I will bring to you another simple method called "Tye and Dye".
Tye and dye also requires a lot of creativity.
Dyeing of fabric simply means applying colors to fabric to give a beautiful design of your choice. There's no need to dispose your old T-shirts when you can actually recycle them. You can as well design a new T-shirt too.
The Materials / Equipments Uesd are;
- White T-shirt
- Twine
- Dye ( which is the color)
- Caustic soda
- Hydrosulphite
- Bowl
- Spoon
- Hot water
- Cold water
This method is totally different from marbles ( the previous method I shared) and it is quite simple too. Let's see the outcome by following the below steps;
Remember this is tye and dye method.
STEPS
Step 1
Place your T-shirt on a flat surface and fold.
Step 2
Tye it with a twine. This is where you get your desired design. However you tye your T-shirt, that's the design you get.
Please make sure you tye it very strong with the twine so the dye (color) will not penetrate.
Step 3
Get ready to dye and move ahead to prepare your chemicals.
Follow the following procedures to prepare your chemicals;
- Put your color into a bowl ( please make sure lighter color comes first if you desired to work with more than one color).
- Put caustic soda and then set hot water.
- Add the hydrosulphite
- Pour the hot water into the bowl.
- Stir the mixture
Step 4
Put one side of the T-shirt into the bowl to absorb the color and do same to the other side of the T-shirt.
Step 5
Open the T-shirt and allow air to touch it for 2 minutes before rinsing the dye out with cold water.
Make sure you rinse with enough water till all the dye goes off. You can see how clean my water is.
Now see the final result below;
It's lovely right?, Don't forget that every mistake is a design in art🤗
I'm so excited to share this skill with you all. I am also coming up again with another design soon. Thank you!
Warmest regards from @adylinah!
