London Training: day#2: exploring the Venue and presentation

Hello my dear Steemians,

 

When I post previous day of our training I wanted to include these photographs of astonishing interior but because everything was in a dimmed light my photos became too dark, therefore, we needed to highlight a bit on computer before posting and not paste straight from mobile phone.

The first photo is a corridor that we needed to go along to our lecture room, as it is London there is a symbol of UK is red telephone box in the corridor for tourists and for children.

Everyone who was passing by stopped and looked at that attraction, outside and inside, we wanted to enter and have a feeling how it was in the past when people were using those cabins.

I love that red carpet that on all floors in the building, that gives such a contrast to white marble on floors and stairs.

 

 
When I saw this space with an artificial tree with white leaves but also a sitting place around it caught my breath. I just stayed there for a minute, looking up to ceiling and the shadows from tree on stairs.

For guests and visitors there were a lot of place to sit and just for rest but i had to continue my walk to the lecture room.

 

 

This is the stairs that we needed to go up to our lecture room, I love that wide and white marble made stairs with a red carpet too. I actually felt like I was back to 18th century and going to ball, only I needed a ball dress that I did not have this time.

 

Coffee and tea before lecture

 

 

Many course participants were from different part of London, because many stayed in cheaper hotels, some people stayed with friends and also there were few who lived and worked in London too. Often even living in London means that you will be travelling with underground or train for at least 30-40 minutes. By the time people arrive refreshment is always something we all enjoy.

Luckily we had coffee machine for coffee beans and the machine could offer few version of different type of coffee. The tea lovers had their own choice of black tea, earl grey, fruit tea. For me coffee was good to start up my morning.

 

 

Lecture and presentations

 

We had very good lecturers they were Gastroenterologists but who were specialised in diagnoses and treatment of conditions of Gullet or Oesophagus in Latin language. The commonest and also one of the tricky one is Reflux disease, that means when acid reflux goes up from stomach and enters gullet causing heartburn and sometimes inflammation with ulceration of gullet.

There are many who respond to simple medications but there are others who tried many different medications and now need psychology tests of oesophagus in order to determine what is the cause and to decide what is the best treatment when the cause is found. You know that if we treat cause and not symptoms then we can give the patient their quality of life back.

Nowadays using all the technical help we know that acid reflux is multi-factorial and requires a serious approach, that is why during this teaching we were talking about the mechanisms just to remember better many of us have done some snapshots of slides, because we did not have any brochures and writing would be taking too much time. Another example that makes our life easy.

 

 

There is always reviews of knowledge that we have, every now and again new classification come up with adding some information and explanation. So we went through classification in details too.

 

 

Many different technology equipments have their own aim for determining a certain problem, that is why we have discuss what is new now and how it could help us to even more to improve the diagnosis of a condition.

 

 

Here I wanted to show you this picture again because you can see the painting on hte back wall just to give you idea about the size.

 

 

Here is once again the painting close up. You might know that maritime scene is my favourite theme in Art. That is why the time between he lecture and during break was for me to review the paintings that were in the room and corridors of the hotel.

As summary the teaching was great, I really enjoyed the new information and definitely will be using in my practice, the only what I find was too little and that I left in my feedback that we had so little time for hands-on practicing. Probably 3 or 4 days would be more optimal for better practical skills.
