Hello dear Steemians,

Now it is almost three years since we felt presence of COVID in Europe it is difficult to imagine that slowly it became something "normal" for many. Many think that everything is over now and we can leave as before COVID, no precautions, no masks, everything is allowed. Nevertheless, in Scotland it is still requirement to wear masks in shops, public places where we can see that at the entrance. But despite of that the staff of the places do not tell anything and some of them also wearing no masks.

My sister is my reference or Personal protective equipment

Last year when it was the time of lock down and also the time when the number of patients went up, the hospitals in UK went onto only Emergency services and cancelled elective cases, it was everywhere in the whole UK. My sister is an Intensive care Nurse they had close contacts with patients that is why had full protective PPE. I remember how she sent me a photo of herself on mobile with all the protective clothes. I hardly recognized her,it is funny that once people have any uniform then many look alike. When I saw it I just wanted to capture that moment and did her Portrait, the girl on the portrait is my sister. I actually sent it to her few months later, she was very glad to have it and of course showed to her colleagues too.

COVID and NHS workers

Back to nowadays, since it is free to visit places, public gathering, family celebrations and of course visiting shops without masks. Since then almost every week we have colleagues who are off sick. On Monday, since I am back the colleague in my team is off with COVID, with symptoms classical cough, headache, unwell despite of 7 days now passed. As to us, we are wearing masks where public and of course at work. The infection is not gone, it is still there and it still hits people. Because of staff who is failing there are cancellation of theatre lists, investigations, clinic. The "freedom" day for people mean more ill medical and nursing staff.

Who knows what the future will bring, but I have a feeling that wearing the masks i n hospitals will probably lasts for next couple of years. Wishing you to stay healthy

The covid has only brought death and sadness to the world. Wearing a mask and having disinfectant alcohol in hand has already become part of us.

I can't wait for the day when it's all over and we can be free like before. How I wish I could see my grandmother and hug her without the fear of infecting her.

We must for the moment follow prevention rules, take care of ourselves, and pray a lot. Thanks for sharing, blessings. 💙🙏

Thank you for your nice feedback, I hope that the time will come when we are back to normal and will be able to see our friends and relatives easily.

COVID can't end soon enough. Things are mostly back to normal here in the US…but COVID is like a bad nightmare, showing up when we least expect it.

The world would be in a much worse situation if there weren't brave people like your sister fighting the good fight. So I thank your sister, each day going into the breach, treating those who need it the most.

Great portrait @stef1.

It probably will be not much hot topic for people, but it is still affecting once when people had been recovered they should not be operated elective for 9 weeks time.

I hope with my sister she will have some immunity now. She is back to her shifts and luckily has not been affected much :)

At least it is becoming less and there are not many restriction as before :)

Yes, I hope that there are no more restrictions and we can be free to search for the necessities of life without any more restrictions

Yes, I agree with you. Wearing masks in health centers will last a couple of years or more, perhaps wearing masks in hospitals permanently in the future is not a bad idea and will become mandatory because that is where most contagious diseases arrive.
On the other hand, I loved the portrait you made of your sister, especially the glance of love and kindness in her eyes, a glance I always see in nurses and medical staff in general.
