A3 Comet in my Lens - C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)
After a week of constant clouds in the night sky, I finally saw the comet.
I was stunned how big it is in the evening sky, visible by a naked eye. Few years ago there was another comet in the night sky and I had to really read some astro-articles to know where to look for it and be able to find it.
This time though, "West after sunset" was enough to see it.
I am really happy that I was able to photograph it, despite the fact my photo equipment isn't so great as it is a "normal" tele-photo lens with 400 mm focal length and not some super telescope.
Still, I feel quite good about it. Another awesome side of it - I took these photos from our garden! :) It was challenging to find dark enough spot for it and stable enough to withstand my tripod and the camera and lens on it, that's 8 kg in total.
Here I am mentioning the two persons I chatted about it, @event-horizon and @bambuka so they don't miss seeing this.

Wow! It looks spectacular... and so bright. I will try my luck too in the evening today. My son was just asking last night if there are any comets visible and I said no. 🤦♀️ He'll be excited. I'll show him these beautiful pictures once he's back from school.

It could be photographed even with some light in the sky during the blue hour (after sunset), but I had other stuff to do at the time.
Another comet is coming but A3 is the biggest and really could be seen with a naked eye.
Yes. Northern Lights are quite unusual to be seen from any Bulgarian territory.
I've traveled to Norway and Iceland to take photos of Aurora Borealis :)

I think I saw it too. There was a blinking star that stood out among the others. I wanted to take out the telescope but mosquitoes stole my enthusiasm. I don't have binoculars so I tried to zoom in with my mobile's camera. There was something fuzzy.
I have seen amazing photographs of northern light on steem. I can't recall if they were posted by you or someone else.
I think the last chances to see it are today and tomorrow probably, then it disappears, as astronomers say, for 80,000 years. So you may consider yourself lucky as many even didn't hear it was on the evening/night sky ;)
Yes, I have published Northern Lights photos, I think I have some unpublished in my archives, I will search and post in the next days.
It is real magic to see it, especially the very first time, it took my breath and words away... I wish you see it, that's something impossible to forget! :)

I saw it last night too during the walk. An extra bright and big star in the west. Unfortunately, I didn't have telescope with me at that time but I'm sure if I had some extra time, I would have seen a nice comet (something close to what you captured) in the perfect little dark spot that I found for the setup. But I had guests at home and it was almost time for dinner. 🥲

My pleasure. I believe in the USA you should also be able to see it, let's say a half an hour - one hour after sunset, West, or slightly Northwest, closer to the horizon.

I will try again tonight. The air is smokey and dusty so it might have been there I have seen a few of them since I lived here. I am at the 41 latitude.

I tried to see it with the naked eye and only saw something like a nebula, which I imagined was the comet lol. Now I was going to write again that this is a consequence of age, but my vision has not been perfect for many, many years anyway. Plus, I have to strain to see something in the dark of night and I seem to have something like nyctalopia, once again I am convinced of this.
But, photographing such things is like participating in all important world events. I can imagine how you feel. To watch it, to be there, to feel it and experience it, to be a part of something grand, great and important, perhaps inexplicable, is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that cannot be described in words.
