"What is your dream job or business, and why is it your dream?

When I think about the dream job I recall me being a child, when I was about three years old I had bad chest infection and was in hospital for about a months. I recall the adults in white coats and how they were visiting us two times a day and also how they were looking in our mouth and listen to our chest. That is why it was my favourite toy. Of course, later on I found from my father that it was a stethoscope to listen to chest. Since the time when I was discharged from hospital I made it clear for my parents that I will be a doctor and that was when I was three years old. My father made a stethoscope for me and I was playing a hospital a home with my siblings and parents.

What skills or qualifications would you need to achieve it?

I can tell retrospectively because I have my dream job. When I finished a school, I needed to enter Medical University and for that we had few subjects, the main where we needed to have the best marks were Biology and Chemistry, both of them were my favourite, that is why it was not so difficult. I think for young people who just preparing themselves for University I would advice find out what are the important subjects that are needed for your dream job and take some private classes with one to one tutor for the last year of your school that is worth and it will be helpful for your entry exams. The study takes 6 years and then later another 5 years we work as a surgeon in training to be specialised in Surgery, after that of course, exams and then we can start our career as a surgeon. On one hand it sounds long time but while working it does not really feel too long.

While being a surgeon we are also further specialised in Endoscopy because it is also one of the skills that we need in order to be able to assess patient's gastrointestinal tract before performing operation, we prefer to do such endosocpy ourselves. The picture above is our Endoscopy room and it is one of my working place, ready for the next patient.

How would your dream job or business positively impact your life or others?

There are many positive side of my job, for example, I do not like to sit on one place, in our profession we are always on our feet. The most satisfying side of my job is that the patient are seeking for help and after our treatment they are pain free, feeling better and happy to be discharged. That is a great feeling and also it is great to hear thankful words when our patients are going home.

What steps are you currently taking to make your dream a reality?

I have my dream job and currently I do take part in regular refreshment of skills seminars and teachings. There are a lot to learn and also there are many different equipments are coming on market so we always have to stay updated and upscale our skills.

Teachers and doctors are the most important professions. Do you remember how it was discussed in the movie "The Irony of Fate"?

Yes, of course, remember the discussion and absolutely agree with their thoughts, it is my favourite movie, can watch as many time as it comes on screen :)

I didn't doubt it. :)

Mostly, especially in the south of the world, teachers are undervalued and ill-paid. I see only complaints about it in south America where I live (I'm also a teacher and I live this circumstance on my skin). My African colleagues complain too. In my former country, more or less. A member of the Italian Quora stated only a loser would dare to study in the university and get a degree to become a teacher (there is a cultural point, especially in some Italian regions, that tries to convince people that successful people only study medicine, engineering and economy). Pitiful.

Ha... Come to Russia and you will find out what the salary of a teacher and a doctor is. Teachers have to work for 2 salaries to get $300 per month.
Doctors in private clinics can earn more than in public hospitals. But the majority of doctors have low salaries.
Sure. the situation looks better in large cities, but if you compare the salaries of teachers and doctors in relation to other professions, it will be sad.

The pandemic was a rich time for doctors who worked with covid-19 patients. But it was a high risk. Now doctors are going to war for a lot of money.

In Latin America, especially in the Mercosur Giant, teachers need to work into 3 or 4 schools, if they haven't a spouse who grants a salary worth of this name. One of my best friends, affected of heart disease, is a mathematics teacher and works in 3 schools (until last years she worked in 4 schools), further destroying her health. In my city, that's averagely cheap, a 4 persons family needs about 1000 dollars to make ends meet, especially when there are children in their school age. A teacher working in one school earns about 250 dollars, but the shameful inflation typical of Latin countries makes such a salary suitable for a healthy single person only, who hasn't the duty to support family members (a situation that's very rare in Latin American countries: here the standard circumstance for the natives is to support even dozens of other people) and doesn't need to pay a rent, as here the average rent is about 175 dollars. So you can imagine how much people need when they live in a capital...to not talk about how dangerous became to work in various schools (especially in the case of High School students): teachers threatened to be killed (it happened to my supervisor when I was a trainee), robbed (a student stole the telephone of my friend, the mathematics teacher) and in Argentina, a teacher lost one eye while protecting a little student from bullying. Unfortunately, these countries are the reign of drug trafficking and many students are bound to such a bush-league or they are the girlfriends of the drug trafficking chiefs, when female students. I'm sure Russia is not the same dangerous as Latin America, despite the low salaries...
On the other side, here doctors and nurses live a very different life: very well paid (if they win a public competition), a lot of holidays and respected in the society.
