INTRODUCTION

It got to my attention that user @omo-ope and @henry-9ja have been accused of spinning/rephrasing someone elses publications. It's important to note, that both of those users have been part of our project hope community and I shared my trust towards them. Trust which has been kind of ... abused.

DIFFICULT DECISION

line2.png

I spoke to a few guys from PH and have discussed this issue with them. I feel that it is my responsibility to ensure that situations like these cannot take place in our community. I'm not a police officer, who is going to monitor all of you closely. My job is to support your efforts and help you all grow bigger on this platform. Weather you're more active on steem, or new to hive - I'm here to support you. And I trust you all - until this trust is abused and forever lost.

For all those reasons, both those users had their access to our community telegram channel removed and all their future publications posted within the Project Hope community will be ignored by me. I will not downvote/flag any of it, but I will not support it either. I strongly believe it's a fair decision.

FINAL WORD

line2.png

I cannot afford to teach people ethics and how not to behave. I also cannot be playing the role of a police officer here either. I don't want to do that. And I hope this unfortunate event will not repeat itself again. Let's respect ourselfs and the work of others.

It's time for our paths to separate and I would expect everyones understanding. At the end of the day I'm the face of this project, and doing something which looks like a "fraud" affects my reputation. Learning from user with 1mln SP, that I'm supporting plagiarism is not the way I would like to start the day.

Some of you may disagree with my decision and may believe that everyone deserve a second chance, and maybe perhaps some people do. However, I'm not planning to punish those users - I'm simply not going to support them any more. I wish them all the best, our short "adventure" is now over.

Yours, @crypto.Piotr

Example of "spinning" from their posts:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms such as Deep Learning have become integral parts of our daily lives: they enable digital speech assistants or translation services, improve medical diagnostics and are an indispensable part of future technologies such as autonomous driving. Based on an ever increasing amount of data and powerful novel computer architectures, learning algorithms appear to reach human capabilities, sometimes even excelling beyond. The issue: so far it often remains unknown to users, how exactly AI systems reach their conclusions. Therefore it may often remain unclear, whether the AI's decision making behavior is truly 'intelligent' or whether the procedures are just averagely successful.Artificial Intelligence (AI) and computer studying algorithms comparable to Deep studying have grow to be vital ingredients of our day-to-day lives: they enable digital speech assistants or translation offerings, reinforce clinical diagnostics and are an fundamental a part of future technologies such as autonomous using. Analyzing a little we can see that @omo-ope is an account created in April 2018. This user made his first publication in 2018 and it was a total plagiarism. All the text in this post was a copy / paste.
Then, all of his subsequent posts were on project hope starting in March 2020 where he managed to accumulate quite a few rewards despite his short stay in our beloved community.
It has only made 14 comments since its inception.

All this indicates that @homo-ope is a spam account used to try to obtain rewards through plagiarism.

Recommendations:

  • Before we start supporting the work of any new content creator subscribers, we should review their story on steemit.
  • Try to interact with this user in order to verify that it is legitimate.
  • Start supporting it with small upvotes and then, once your commitment is verified, increase the power of the upvote.
  • If any indicator of plagiarism or spam is detected, include these users in a "Blacklist."

Finally, I have a proposal for @crypto.piotr and about which I would like to know the opinion of our subscribers:

For some time I have been handling the idea of implementing a "White List" for subscribers/content creators in our community.

  • Members who become part of our White List will be beneficiaries of the highest levels of curatorship. For this they must meet some basic requirements of commitment, level of activity and behavior.
  • Not belonging to the White List does not exclude subscribers from receiving upvotes.
  • The whitelist membership can be revoked at any time if the user does not comply with the rules.

What do you think?

Wow. What a deap analysis @juanmolina

I appreciate your comment and thanks for understanding and support to my decision

For some time I have been handling the idea of implementing a "White List" for subscribers/content creators in our community.

The truth is that I put enough effort to talk to every single person who is starting to post within our community. I'm trying to learn a bit about each user, share our goals and informations about our project economy.

So each user is kind of being "screened" by me and I support with upvotes only those, who gave me impression that they share similar values and interests. Obviously some mistakes do happen. However I'm not really into building public whitelists or blacklists. At least not in traditional sense of it.

Like I said - my goal is to learn about each user who is posting within PH and to decide which users I want to support in the future. I just need to be more careful

Hope I'm making sense,
Piotr

I understand you dear friend. I respect and accept your decision.

That is an important point what you bring as a proposal @juanmolina
A white list in some ways can help counter these abuses, as well as allowing for better control. Your review of this user's blog is important.

I think the ideas suggested in this comment are good ideas.

Thanks, time will tell.

Excellent set of suggestions. I think all communities should adopt something similar. @informationwar community has done a lot of things right IMHO.

Thanks, i´ll check it.

Thanks.

sad to know this, could have been given a second chance if they were writing on a technical subject that they did not understand and limited language skills may be prevented them from better taking care of plagiarism. However, such behavior is detrimental to your project and I can understand the decision you took. Bad behavior impact you, the project and many people you support.

@crypto.piotr is very difficult to make this decision on the grounds "@omo-ope and @henry-9ja have long joined the PH community" it can even be said to be an old member.
On one hand it's good, to safeguard the future of a community that has hundreds of members rather than protecting the two people mentined by @crypto.piotr.

Dear @teach-me
Actually, both of those users were kind of very fresh members. Same as you - they just joined several weeks ago. It was just my very first time that I actually bothered to check some random publications posted within PH seeking plagiarism. And this discovery wasn't pleasant.

Thx for your comment
Cheers, Piotr

This is definitely painful I believe no one should have to spin other people's work to earn from it, I started from the scratch and built reputation myself. These people should have to learn too that it's better to start little than to cheat with contents. What a pity really. I support your decisions

Thanks for your supportive comment

Difficult but necessary decision!

It is a wise decision, my dear friend.

Thanks for your supportive comment

I believe is a complete waste of time to act this way!

I think whoever is here on this platform is well aware that plagiarism is not accepted at all but despite it such posting is a very bad act which should not be tolerated. People should use their own words and thoughts and this is what helps to earn reputation.

Some of you may disagree with my decision and may believe that everyone deserves a second chance, and maybe perhaps some people do. However, I'm not planning to punish those users

I agree with your decision and you have taken the right decision. I also hope that both users understand the purpose and don't try to do something which is not right in the future.

Thanks

This is really a difficult decision to make. We will all be guided not to do such thing

It got to my attention that user @omo-ope and @henry-9ja have been accused of spinning/rephrasing someone elses publications.

This is really so bad and this will actually be the first time I'm hearing such a bad practice engaged by our community members. Or is it that they are new to Steemit or what? This is just too bad and not encouraging because our community wasn't built for this.

My job is to support your efforts and help you all grow bigger on this platform. Weather you're more active on steem, or new to hive - I'm here to support you. And I trust you all - until this trust is abused and forever lost

Almost every community members of project hope are much aware of your good intentions and support. I actually feel very bad about such occurrence happening in this great community.

And I hope this unfortunate event will not repeat itself again. Let's respect ourselfs and the work of others.

I'm quite sure this will never happen again and I will suggest we pin a warning against plagiarism on the community Steemit group and the telegram group to avoid users coming up with unrealistic excuses after being caught.

everyone deserve a second chance, and maybe perhaps some people do.

I actually think they deserve this too though who knows if they are newbies on Steemit who have no knowledge about plagiarism but I really know how you are feeling right now and I can't question your decision or judgment but I can assure you that such a thing will never repeat itself.

Thanks for sharing this great post with love from @hardaeborla and I hope you have a great weekend ahead ❤️💕❤️💕❤️

i definetly will have to keep in mind, that checking random publications within PH for plagiarism is a must. I feel that i've been to naive so far, assuming that this wouldn't happen within our community.

Enjoy your weekend buddy

Thanks for the lovely reply
