This photo shows the sad reality in our country. Children, as young as they are were forced to do labor just so they could have food to fill their stomachs. These children are supposed to be enjoying their life playing, learning at school, and enjoy growing up. But sadly, they cannot even do that for they have to find a way to live and eat at least three times a day.
I hope that these children will be able to find help from the government and at least, the government should support them a bit just so they will not be dragged down more into poverty level.
It hurts my heart every time I see kids like this but, what much can I do? I am also just an ordinary person also striving to live my life and support my family.
Congratulations dahil Ikaw ang isa sa "BEST COMMENT OF THE DAY" (06-01-2021). Salamat sa pagsali.
This is a photo that depicts poverty. These children are supposed to be in school or at play. But because of the need to earn for a living, they made a choice to be scavengers. Looking for stuff in the garbage pile that can be sold in junk shops.
On the other hand, a question can be raise here, "Where are the parents of these children?" possibly they are also in the same area scavenging. Or maybe they are somewhere else looking for a living. Or maybe doing the opposite, living their children do the job.
But you know, to stop the cycle of poverty in the family, one needs to step out and do something different than the usual.
They are helping their parents to find a living para mka sustain ng kanilang araw-araw na pangangailangan but sad to say it should not be instead of their rights to education they being deprived by it. It's not an easy problem because it's been a long time problem of the government all we have to do is, if we have free time uou can help by volunteering in reaching out to the xommunity the importance of education para naman ma educate din ang parents ng mga batang na deprive sa free education.
This photo depicts the reality in our country today, the poverty . This is the main reason why these children earn a a living in the garbage instead of playing in the playgrounds with other children .We cannot totally blame the goverment for this reality, Although they are partly to be considered, but we as parent should also be reponsible with our family. If you think having a big family will be difficult for you to survive then be responsible enough do your part .
Hoping someday the goverment and the common people will go hand in hand in achieving a growing country with less poor families, no one will be left behind.
Comment entry contest:
I see in this picture children playing in the garbages. In my own opinion, this children is so very pity, why? Not enough knowledge , very dirty, hungry and belongs to a dirty and high risks place. Many children are like this especially in the squatters area. And some of them trying to robbed anything. The parents of this childrens is also very poor, can't find any descent jobs because of not qualified on the jobs or companies they wanted to and there is not well properly guided of childrens doing. The Government do there best to have the children a good education and achieved their dreams. They also have programs to all poor people in this country, to sustain their needs .
But sadly to say, some of the implementing programs is only in the tip of the ballpen, it onll wrote in the paper, their also Government programs will successfully implemented but the budget was being cut-out to some corrupted officials.
And we can not deny it. But this children is also blessed. Why? Because they did not suffered any illnes and it looks so healty. We can deny it that garbage is the home of different kinds of germs and microorganisms. But this children are still healthy.
My advice to all children who does not encountered nthis kind of situations. Be fruitful in your living, avoid wasting food, take an example of the children living in the garbage. Not enough food, not enough shelter and not enough needs.
I hope this poor children will be successful soon. Who knows?

Poverty In The Midst of This Pandemic
The photo above is a heartbreaking scenario way back the olden days when Smokey Mountain still existed in Payatas which caused a great landslide in the area which killed many Filipinos. Relocations and various home projects were built under the leadership of Senator Manny Villar. Sad to say, others still went back to the place because they still need to find other means to augment their financial needs in order to meet both ends.
It is this sad realization that when parents go out to work in some factories and construction works, the children were forced to do their tasks because there is money in garbage so they say. More often than not, the whole family, even worked hand in hand as scavengers despite the risk on health issues.
This is due to lack of education when parents don't have enough sources so as to send their kids in school, or they just didn't care at all, hence poverty has become the yoke of their lifetime endurance in order to survive with all the dangers in the streets even in the wee hours.
This is the irony of it all, when the rich become richer, the poor becomes poorer. Despite the ordeal that we've undergone because of this pandemic, there is a positive result wherein the kids were kept at home and the scavenging of garbages became lesser because minors and elders were already prohibited to go out, setting aside those who still refused to follow the rules imposed by the government.
The above photo is a wake up call to all Filipinos and most of all to the government, to continue with their programs such as the 4 Ps wherein the less fortunate children were sent to school with corresponding monetary assistance to at least hasten the hardship of our fellow brothers and sisters. In so doing, there will be less pictures of these scavengers where others find joy in taking such pitiful photos tantamount to such situation of a poorer than poor.
@Sarimanok
This is the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer .We seen in the picture is the poverty the greatest nightmare of all people which has been a problem here in our country with no concrete solution has been made. Many filipinos have patiently adsited in this kind of lifestyle . This a a really big problem many youths filipino struggling to go in this kind of job even if they are still in a minor age who must enjoying being kids. But they have no choice just to work in able to get money for food and their daily needs . At there early age they learn breaking there bone those activities in the picture are too dangerous , harmful to the health of those children that may affect their morals . The government should made an action for this kind of social issue in the country as what our Nation hero said "KABATAAN ANG PAG-ASA NG BAYAN " and how we can made it if we are not making actions for those youths in our country who can't get education . We should not use that Crab mentality and we should help those people to get up in their nightmares in life because as what I have seen a little research done and often overlooked .
Indeed sir!
congrats and ang ganda tingnan ng comment section. Kaya sasali na din ako:
The image breaks my heart. Poverty is obviously real. I may have not personally experienced what the image shows but I know that there are many places in the world where kids had no other choice but to resort to this.
Scavenging for food is necessary for them, that might be their only hope to surviving this day. Perhaps this was their only way to bringing food on the table if their parents, for any reason are not able to provide for them. It's just heart breaking and I lament for them.
I know there are many groups, public and private sectors who are helping out kids who are out in the streets, scavenging or even those who pick up trash for money. My husband and I had been subscribed to some organizations, private ones where we give an amount of money every month to help kids who are in the similar situation.
While we are in this fallen world, our hearts bleed seeing these reality but I can only pray that God would deliver them from this hardship, that they'd find the HOPE that we have in Jesus Christ. I also pray that God will move many other people to help. And to always bring into my heart a way to help in my own little way too.
Congratulations dahil Ikaw ang isa sa "BEST COMMENT OF THE DAY" (06-01-2021). Salamat sa pagsali.
IMO: GOD loves the poor, the children and the weak. This is the worst scenario of child labor just to earn some peso when this kids should not do. But what can I do for them? I only an onlooker. I am feeling helpless. I only watch and that hurts. I have lived in poverty when I was a kid in the province, I help in the farm. Being poor in the city brings you in the mountains of garbage, I am thankful I was brought up in a mountain, the real mountain the nature to be able to grow our own food. Does this kids have their choices to live like that? No! They just don't because they are destined for this kind of life. What you and me can do about it? End the end we just watch them. We think about our country as a whole, our leadership and politics but do you know how and what this kids really in their heart in that very moments when flipping those garbages? They work hard but hardwork does not pays off enough. But who are we to judge when we are only an onlookers. I pray for all the children who lives this way. They don't deserve it. If I only life on earth is fair.
Congratulations dahil Ikaw ang isa sa "BEST COMMENT OF THE DAY" (06-01-2021). Salamat sa pagsali.
Today I will make a simple story about the photo.
Reflection:
The story of success about the life of Liza takes pride in the value of education in which our country must uphold. That poverty should never be a hindrance to success but a key to have a mettle core values in life necessary in achieving one's dream.
Yes bro!
Congratulations dahil Ikaw ang isa sa "BEST COMMENT OF THE DAY" (06-01-2021). Salamat sa pagsali.
