Greetings to all my steemian friends in this community. Today I will be writing about the mental health contest in the Healthy Steem community. We have been asked to discuss some of the issues that will promote mental well-being.

Just last week, I was returning from work with a friend and colleague, while working down the road she popped open a direct question to me "What do you think causes mental problem in people's life and why do you think people are mentally sick?" Within myself I began to wonder; "why does she throw such direct questions at me? Does she know I have had mental problems before? I was throwing series of questions to myself. At some point I decided to respond to her questions seeing that she was only having a deep concern about the increase in the number of mad people on the street, because I had never known her until January, 2024 when I was posted to the place we happened to work together now.

I wish many people will ask this questions and care to think on how to care for their mental well-being. Thank you @hive-168205 for bringing up this interesting topic. I have in mind to be creating contents that will constantly create awareness on how people should care about their mental health.

👩‍⚕️ What daily habits enhance mental resilience?

What is mental resilience? Many people have given their definitions that Resilience refers to both the process and the outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences. That is having the mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and ability to adjust to both internal and external demands. Another person says “It’s your ability to withstand adversity and bounce back and grow despite life’s downturns.” That means life throw at us many hard situation that we must develop resilience for to avoid having mental crisis.

I will recommend the following habits that can enhance our mental resilience:

Always maintain a healthy eating habit: If you will agree with me, there are sometimes you have headache because you are hungry. I know many people do not know that many headaches they have are reactions to hunger. Do not wait until you are hungry before you eat. Just like the car needs fuel to drive, humans need food to function properly. Also ensure to eat healthy foods such as natural foods, drink a lot of water, fruits and vegetables.

Learn to delegate responsibilities: Make it a habit to delegate responsibilities both at work and home. Do not overwork yourself, because if you should have mental crises the work will still be there. From personal experience, always desiring to do everything by yourself will sap your energy and worn out your mental stability. You will loose balance and as a result of it crises may sets in.

Have the habit of taking one step at a time: Do what you can at a time, whatever your strength or energy cannot take you at the moment, let it be. Whatever you can achieve at a time celebrate it. What you cannot achieve at some point let it go. Do not over stretch your mind to a breaking point.

Learn to Plan out your life: Always write down your plans and set goals for yourself. As you work towards achieving your goals, whatever you cannot achieve within your time bound, live it for another time.

Always have enough and quality Sleep: Sleep helps to rejuvenate and restore damage brain cells. Create time to sleep and relax your mind from worries.

Food is the only important source of energy to human body and for proper brain function one must keep a healthy diet. Eating junk foods and sugary foods is generally not healthy. Develop and maintain the habit of eating natural and home made food. Food rich in carbohydrates such as rice, fofo, garri, yam, etc. These are good sources of energy. Fruits and vegetables are essential sources of minerals and vitamins, eat more fruits and vegetables. Water is also a good source of energy and prevents dehydration, consume plenty of water.

To promote emotional balance below are the activities you must frequently engage with:

Engage in brain power boosting activities: I will say that brain power boosting activities are: writing, reading, teaching, forgiving, talking things out etc. These activities keeps your brain updated and build confidence in you thereby contributing to your emotional stability. For instance, Steemit has create a platform where you can share your knowledge, experience, emotions, feelings, read about others and learn new things. Learn to express your feelings and emotions with people who may interfere with your emotions. Talk things out, learn to forgive and move on.

Avoid Brain washing Environments: Any environment or people that will always talk or brainwash your mind into anything that is against your ethics, believes, intelligence, self esteem and confidence, stay far away from such. That is how you will be hypnotized and made to do things against your will that can lead you to behaving abnormally which may lead to mental break down.

My dear you have a good point here about the mental health issues.

My dear life is more important than anything in this world. I remember some time ago I over worked myself i nearly develop mental problem if not the doctor that give me bed rest for 3 days.

Since then any thing I noticed or my body give me a sign I don't weaste time to respond.

Hello dear, How was the day ? I wish to you to be in peace and living their best moments of life.
The answer has been given in very detail about mental health. Good food and adequate sleep are very important for mental health. Along with that, we should do exercise and also drink plenty of water. Drinking water also improves our mental health a lot.
