Hello everyone, it's Fatima here! I'm excited to dive into this new fascinating topic of the contest in the @hive-168025 community, which is The Science of Aging. As someone who's been engaging with others and writing here for some time, I've come across many interesting ideas and discussions. However, I haven't found the promising results I hoped for yet. Nevertheless, I'm enthusiastic about another interesting contest and hope to be the runner-up this time!

Growing older and aging over time is a process that has attracted the attention of scientists and researchers because it is a natural thing that we all undertake and can do nothing about. It is multifactorial and is a culmination of genetic probably and lifestyle choices like eating habits, physical activity and exposure to the environment. In this article we will go on a journey of discoveries of mysterious aging where we will explore the beauty of how the human body develops and to find ways to make a lag between getting older and aging gracefully.

When one gets old, his/her body is able to experience such changes in the cellular, molecular, and organ systems. These turnings and twists are linked in complex ways to both environments and genetics. Cells aging's including the one called senescence that point at which the cells stop to reproducing and stay in the arresting cell cycle state is one of the most important aging's processes. Cells senesce because of their capacity for self-protection against the intracellular damage and are a characteristic of a cellular aging.

Similarly, aging is associated with multisystemic dysfunctions as different organ systems can't function in perfect mode. To illustrate, one of the many paths through which the cardiovascular system is damaged is an increase of cardiovascular aging, which may lead to blockages and hardening of arteries. Besides that, we should not forget about the muscular-skeletal system which will also be afflicted by the smaller muscles and weaker bones. In addition, the capability of the immune system will be functioning properly, so the individual is in risk of infections and other types of diseases.

Despite all these challenges, there are still effective strategies that older adult ageing can be good and their lives to be healthy. One important key-in to your health is having a healthy lifestyle that encapsulates regular exercise, healthy food intake, and enough sleep. When you have these, your health automatically gets better, this leads to you having a brighter perspective in life. Besides, activity of a mental kind and performance of social functions will protect cognitive potential and psycho-emotional balance.

👩 What is the medical process behind aging and from which age it actually starts?

Aging that is a multiple parameter process is influenced by environmental, hereditary and life style factors that affect negatively on the entire body functioning. Besides the stance of the precise mechanism, some major pathways, which are admitted play a role in aging, are supposed to exist.

With growing age, the cells that we have undergo alterations that make them prone to state and it is call senescence. Senescent cells lose proliferative abilities and can build colonies in the tissues which, in turn, lead to tissue inflammation and damage.
Gradually, our DNA have the capacity to damage from sources including UV radiation, chemicals and oxidative stress. This process may accumulate and make a person older as well as contribute to degenerative or age-related disorders.

Mitochondria are not just workhorses of a cell, but its energy powerhouse, producing energy. Human aging involves a deterioration in mitochondrial function hence a reduced energy production and enhanced oxidative action.
According to a "inflammaging" concept, chronic low-grade inflammation contributes to the origin of aging and various diseases. Tissue damage can occur and later on it can also lead to the development of some diseases such as vascular disease, diabetes or Alzheimer's.

👩 Are you afraid of becoming older and if yes then what are the challenges of aging that are making you afraid from getting older?

I would not like to appear afraid of growing old, but the challenges that are involved sometimes worry me. Another factor of the aging process which I find rather troubling is that aging results in many physical good health issues and low energy levels. I am looking to keep up the active and independent self I currently am. Therefore, the thought of becoming physically unstable is a shameful thing that I would much rather not dwell on.
A vaguely stated sentence needs more detail and explanation. That is why I am also concerned with mental health and cognitive function decline as we age. Memory loss and eventually cognitive decline are quite well-known amongst the elderly people, and the possibility of mental sharpness loss is also very scaring for me.
Along with the issue of aging, I some time feel lonely and separated, which is another challenge that I face. When we grow older, friends circle simply vanishes as if our acquaintances are spared on purpose and the keeping of connections of any kind is too hard. The mood of unease arises because I tend to be a close-knit person and feeling lonely is uncomfortable.

Generally, although I have some worries about the aging process, I try to view life and every age as the great blessing and cherish them as they come. So, here we go! Everything is within what is supposed to be the journey, right?

Scientifically, Chromosome, DNA , telomeres and Telomerase have a role to play in ageing and I am excited on how you manage to put everything together.

Hi @fatimafahim, I hope you are doing well today. After reading your entry, I can say it's amazing and the first question was well answered. Also, we share similar view concerning aging and fear. Just like you, I am not scared of aging, rather I am concerned about the limitations it brings along. Your nutritional items are also fascinating, although I am yet to drink green tea, or maybe I take something similar without knowing it's the same thing. Cardiovascular exercises are very important, and yoga is good for all class (young and old).

Aging starts when our body changes over time. Our cells organs and appearance gradually show signs of aging.

While aging brings challenges like health issues and changes in appearance staying active and eating well can help.

Aging is a natural and inescapable phenomenon that happens to people who are advanced in age. When the skin loses its elasticity and the bones begin to wear off, then aging has begin.
