The Diary Game #66: 08/01/25: Stormy sea and Motion Sickness

Hello my dear Steemians,

 

Every holiday will come to end and that was with us too. Of course, it felt very short and we wished to stay a bit longer there but so long we have commitment to work we need to return back and just wait till next holiday that is in summer.

 

Trip to IJmuiden

 

Our trip started in the morning and we needed to drive to Amsterdam's port IJmuiden. The road was a bit busy with cars and lorries, I think after holidays everything started to catch up on their deliveries and also people were travelling back to their homes like ourselves. It was otherwise good trip, it was some rain but not excessive, so we had no delay on road and were happy to arrived in time to the ferry.

It did not take too long and we were onboard, the cabin was spacious and the first thing we saw was a set with coffee and different type of teas with some pastry. After three hours of driving we were happy to get some refreshment. My hubby prefers coffee and I took black tea with some milk and that felt the most delicious thing.

 

 

Usually we are early onboard and it was the same this time and till departure it was about two hours, it was still daylight, it was cold and we had a good view through window that is why after our drinks I decided to capture some activities that were happening in port.

 

 

 

 

 

Stormy sea and Motion Sickness

 

At the time when we started depart we received a Capitan's speech where he told that the sea is very stormy due to wind and it is expected to have rough first 1/3 but the rest of journey also will be rich in waves. It was very windy and that we felt because the ferry was not able to get out of the port itself and needed some help.

 

 

 

 

I have mentioned in my previous posts that I have very sensitive to some transports like cars when travelling on country roads with a lot of lumps and bumps but also roundabout, if the car is driving on straight roads then it is no problem. The same sensitivity I have for travelling on ferry when it is high waves. That is why I am always anxious when I need to take ferry. Until now and it is more than 10 years that we are using the same route there was no major problem also one of the reason is the tablets that I use before departure and it is called "Stugeron" what I like those tables you do chew and they have nice taste. According instruction you should take 2 tables two hours before departure and if then later required one tables after each 8 hours.
 

 

I had my tablets and we sure that it will be fine, I took my necessary tables and hoped that it will be fine. Despite of that after about an hour I felt very sick and was not able to sit up. The best thing to do then is to try to fall asleep and that is why I tried to do, but it was not successful and I had been sick few times. My hubby played a nurse and he was great as always, very caring, was making eveyrhting to make me comfortable.

After that I was able to sleep over night but I was not able to have breakfast, could not even think about foo but I send my hubby to have breakfast.

It is an interesting thing with Motion Sickness, once the ferry arrived and we have no movement my sickness gradually settled and stopped. I was very happy to be on ground again.

By the way, due to wind that was coming from North just against ferry and also stormy water we had 2 hours delay with arrival.

 

Trip home

 

The travel from Newcastle to Scotland was not bad, it was nice frosty but sunny weather. There was not much traffic, just at very beginning we had to wait in traffic jam for about 20 minutes, but the rest of travel was good.

 

 

You could see that it is a beautiful view around and such sky with beautiful clouds and also you could see snow capped hills.

 

 

At least that made me to forget the night adventure with motion sickness. We were happy to be home, that is a great feeling.
