I decided to write a fiction story and hope you like it.
Mustard is something that I learned when I was adult but of course, heard about mustard long ago. We all know that often we love with our eyes, that means if we see something and we do not like it then we do not want it. It is something that we have since our childhood. Can you remember colourful sweets always attract attention of children then one in boring cover, even though they are more delicious but it is not possible to convince a child, of course, until the child tries it.
When I saw first time the colour of mustard it was not yellow and it was brown like chocolate so I already did not like it. The second thing that often plays a great role when we try something is a smell, mustard has specific spicy smell when I smelled it first time I thought “definitely nothing for me” and that was me and Mustard relationship for many years. I even did not want to try it, why should I if I do not like its appearance and its smell.
Later on when I met my hubby and we were visiting some of his relatives for grill evening Mustard was always on table I was surprised to see how many people enjoyed it and could not trust my eyes, still that time it did not make me curious and I did not try it until one very moment.
Usually we love watching documentary movies and we love places that are not far from our home country Germany and the nearest neighbour country is the Netherlands. When my hubby was young he spent majority of his time there with parents and school in summer on a little tourist island called Ameland therefore, it was also place that we often watched documentary.
One day it was a documentary about Ameland and it is not only about the nature, people and what you can do there but also they showed places where the local people produced their local products and how they do them. What caught them my attention when they were talking about producing Mustard according their own recipe and real handmade. There was a journalist who made the documentary and also who tasted the products.
What I found astonishing that they managed to do different flavours and also it was not like past it was a bit rough. When the journalist tasted it he was absolutely amazed and said that this kind of Mustard he never tasted before. That was a signal for us, so next time when we visited the island Ameland we went to the Windmill that was converted into cheese and mustard shop.
We bought two types, one is standard without anything and another with cranberries. I was very pessimistic before trying it. But when I tasted first time Mustard with cranberry flavour I feel in love with it, because the bitter spice taste of mustard was not too strong and it was mild. That was perfect! The one classic one was also better than what we usually buy from shop it was still less chemical taste but more natural. I am still not very fan of Mustard but I love Mustard with cranberry flavour. We can see that our taste can also be changed despite of few years since our first experience.
I would like to invite @paholags, @beautiful12 and @chant78 to this contest

Well, I am a mustard fan. Not the mustard you get in the squeeze bottles, but the ones you still get in the old tradition glass pots with the seeds, whole grain mustard. It has such a robust flavor.
Oh yummy! It is delicious with icebein.
As for cranberry flavor mustard.. umh. It sounds nice.
Thank you for participating this week.
Best wishes.
I think many of our likes and dislikes form when we are children and taste them from such early age, there are of course, some taste that we may develop later like Olives I tasted them first time I was more than 25 y.o and fell in love with them, my hubby still does not like Olives.
Since I tried both mustard types in tube as a paste but also now those with seeds i also prefer them and who knows might find some dishes that will be tasting good with them :)
I make the following mustard sauce with Christmas.
Mustard sauce:
• The yolk of 3 egg
• 1 tablespoon vinegar
• 3 teaspoon mustard with seeds
• 4 tablespoons sugar
• ½ cup stock (beef or chicken)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the egg yolks, vinegar, mustard, and sugar. Beat with a hand mixer. Transfer to a small saucepan and pour in the stock. Whisk and bring to a simmer. Remove from the heat and allow it to cool down.
It is delicious with cold meat. (•ิ‿•ิ)
