If you wonder I am still active but more focussed on commenting than posting. It's simple, you can't do both and finding a good comment is easier than finding a good post. The comment sections is more lively if you know where to find the good, engaging commenters.
This morning I started with music, not something I keep myself busy with the entire day but if you read and write you like other aspects of art as well (books, film, music).

Commenting is the best part of a forum. Everyone active on the internet or even with email only has the habit of checking if there's a message! So .. if no one comments who will text or email you or leave a comment?
Commenting can be learned, I said it more than once and I am not going to repeat myself. @jiva34 once remarked that it takes time to comment if you read, you think about what you read and you share it.
Those who are in a hurry can only ask AI or type the same message over and over again by changing a few words. Is this a sign that someone read you? I have my doubts. As long as there are lists mentioning those who comment most it is not more than a game.

Those who read comments will read a ton of information and opinions s/he will never find by searching for a certain post not even if a contest is hosted with a certain topic. On average all entries are the same, answering the same questions, saying what is obvious or expected.
If I stop posting it will have some effect. What that will be you can read in Talkchannel hosted by adeljose. It's here where you can also share your thoughts, and ask questions about Steemit. If Talkchannel were the poll of how Steemians feel and what they want the conclusion is no matter the topic everyone is 200% satisfied.

Comment or upvote?
It's the past week's topic see #diginnasio where you can still read and share your thoughts. It's not that if the payout date expired the discussion is over. Who doesn't know why commenting is important should read what is written which you can also do if you check Monkye Business in Steem For Better Life. No, I am not going to share links since the community can easily be found.
What is the benefit of commenting? If it comes to me I meet many different people, speak to great, interesting artists and we share things we like. If it comes to hosts of contests it's no secret that if I take part and start inviting others the comment contest has many entries.
Two weeks ago I spoke to someone who said he did it to make people engage. He didn't notice I started the chain of comments and didn't say one single word himself. Not one single word.. hiding somewhere where most Steemians never will look. I wonder and keep wondering what you expect, how a talk should start if you sit in a dark corner without showing yourself. It beats me but if I tell to use a hashtag (I wrote more than one about why the us is important) it rarely has any effect.
Do you have a hit by just staring at your search engine without typing a single word? Did you find the info you were searching for without typing or talking to your device?

Gaming

That's how Steemit always felt like me a game we play. You need SP (energy) to do something, you want to level up (powerup) and you don't like to be attacked (hacked).
Gaming on Steemit is a topic that is a point of discussion again (you could know it if you read comments and visit the right talks or commenters).

My time is up, besides this is the second time I write this post the former one disappeared because???

After the c-19 idiotery, remember how you acted back then?

Oohh I lost my focus after watching hocus pocus by focus 50🤦 what was that I want to comment about.
Oohh.. I know🤭 there's something that made me wonder and curious. Contest posts and winners. While one of the suggestion was "engaged" but even the host didn't engaged with the posters until it's almost over😁 oohh what about the participants? My experience... None but my close friends only will comment on my entry 😂😂 still, a consolation prize accepted.

So, if you didn't tagmealong ... I won't join any contests easily and happily. I don't go to all "engagement party" on steemit, but try my best to support the good one. I read others and replied but then I skipped because I don't see it interesting to engage with the same account anymore. Many reasons, but... Most of the time "thank you" replies is the end of the chapter🤣😂

You know what kitty? What you did with your comment contest remind me to the old newbiegames 7 years ago, it's a comment contest where many good people engaged with newbies and support them through SBI. I think we need to ask @aneukpineung78 to do a pie and bar thingy about comments and account age (don't include the SP) to see how many new commenters in a comment contest post. What's the point? To have them dragging here and there to comment on 😂🤣

It's nothing new what you wrote, I see the same but hey, who am I to .... well, you know what I mean.. hocus pocus.. it's clear that the interest to engage isn't present if it comes to the hosts of contests which makes me wonder about the word HOST what does the word mean again?
Some greeter welcoming you, chatting a bit and show you around, offering you... coffee, tea or lemon to suck on.

More comment but just like in September most roads lead to me you only need to follow the thread. So far Monkey Business is the only comment contest with the most comments even if I am not around because of some I met as I started and they by know actively engage with others (thank you @bahrol).

There lies a world between leaving a comment and engagement.
Okay, Thanks, Thaks for the incitement, are comments but there's no engagement and the writer had no intention to join.
What to think about those who leave a comment if a new contest is posted and say: Interesting comment I will join (and never show up?).

I will tell @anuekpineung78 if he wakes up if he likes to fight with the sheets and shows more pies (I let him know unless he appears before I wake up).
I notice newcomers at Monkey Business and the freewriters and I am happy with it. It's possible to grow if they would join a few of these contests and if the host and other participants upvote. In average the environment is good and it's fine with me if the chat continues about other topic. That's the whole idea to meet and find some support.

Instead of SBI I do UVF because I already used it before SBI was (noticeable) back on track.

Hello buddy, you're back.......good to see you.

Many reasons, but... Most of the time "thank you" replies is the end of the chapter🤣😂

Hahaha, that's on a post who don't feel like engaging with because I know very well you engage a lot, not just engage, your comment is like an energy drink, we called it here.... Predator, a word that lift up the spirit 😂😂😂

Buddy?

Hahahah, wait, what do you think it is? I just want to know first because the way you're saying it, I think is doesn't sound well to you. Am I right?

Well said!

There are a lot of posts each day. If we are all going to be working towards making this a successful place/forum. Then, we all need to be engaging with each other. Like you said earlier, short comments (e.g. nice post or I agree) doesn't help with engagement. You may see them all over some posts.

If we treat this like a game. Then, we will have a better chance to gain energy (SP) and power up faster!

The main problem is the lack of engagement. It, a platform, social media, doesn't exist if I only leave a message and there's no reply and I dare to say that more is needed than just one reply. I know not everyone is like me but if I don't hear longer from someone I talked to I will check where he is and if he is still active and leave a message underneath on of the posts.

I think it's a good start to see this as a game.

It's like having a friend online. Well, if you have done this before. It should be appreciated.

We all don't know the future of this platform or any other online site. But, I don't see the reason why we wouldn't make it a nice stay while we are here.

Maybe if more people would see this comment, they would be more engaging.

The main problem is that if you join with the idea to make a big income because you heard SC will vote why engage, why make friends?

Strangely enough many hours are wasted on Facebook, in whatsapp groups, discord you name it, unpaid. Why not here?

I made good friends here which I also connect with outside Steemit. Internet, Steemit can benefit one in many ways. All those benefits (help, tips, a good chat, fun, friendships) are priceless.

Platforms are invisible and dead if commemting stops. Imagine Reddit with questions but no answers

Great text, @wakeupkitty . I left you a couple of comments somewhere that needs answering, so I can help to try and free some of your time for you to write. :)
Be sure to get to them whenever you can.
Cheers.

Thanks, I check them as soon as possible

I love reading comments this day even though I don't have much time to create a post. I think my last post was 3 days and I have been busy throughout. The worst part of it is that am trying to recover my social Media account which was hacked recently. I know many steemian who felt discouraged to comment because........as one shared with him.... he said he doesn't know what to comment. I didn't blame him because somehow I felt the same too. But what makes me start to engage and comment? I learned from the best, secondly I comment on post I like not all the post. For me, I don't know what to say or to comment about diary game but when it comes to contest or anything I might engaged. I noticed that even comment now it rewarding unlike before though many steemian prefer posting than commenting. One time....... even a steemcurator told me to post instead of engaging in comments.

You know if you don't talk to people you will not make friends and will not receive upvotes. It's as simple as that. Just leaving a comment is not enough, there has to be a reply, if not there is no engagement.

If that person says s/he doesn't know what to comment you can say you find it hard too and ask about interest or whatever you like to talk about. I don't see it as a problem if I write about A and the comment is not related to the topic becaus there's a question or you just like to share something else.

With you I agree there's no need to comment on everything but at times I also feel that everyone deserves a message some longer. others short, at times it's only about one line or a tip if it comes to hashtags but that's fine too.

Commenting should always have been rewarded. It was in the past and many old Steemians still work that way and keep in mind many small upvotes make a big one as well. Another plus of an upvote on a comment is that you do not share it with those who upvote your post!

There are people who mainly comment. Have a look at @gems.and.cookies. He even is mainly active in one comment contest and it works for him. There is no "you must" what this platform needs are commenters not posters there are enough posts and the quality of the average post is low. If you post daily - some even 3 times per day - how big is the change they are all upvoted? A 6 day old post can be upvoted, even a 7 day old post where it's still 10 or 12+ hours till the payout. Most important is that you do what you like and and you find likeminded people, support since it's not said that how it works today will continue. There was a time before SC and since Justin Sun the owner has an AI "surprise" for Steemit (he announced that on X) we can only see what will happen.

If it comes to the steemcurator.. they are people like you and me and not a special species, not better writers, engagers and many of them rarely comment. So leave the "even" behind. You can take the advice or let it be.

I once asked when an account is seen as active and the answer was if you post 4 posts per week (which leaves you with 3 days for commenting?) but on the other hand there are also plenty of Steemians who only post 1-2 times per week. Ask yourself what is more important and what will benefit you on long term. Contacts or just posting and leaving.
