Day 873: 5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt: words

Words something to think about. Have you ever thought of how words got their name? Or who did the naming? You have ten fingers but two of them are called thumbs I would think it should be you have 8 fingers. People use to not eat tomatoes because they thought the red color was bad who ate the first one and who named it a tomato? What about words that sound the same but have two different meanings like winch and wench you pronounce it the same thing when they mean two different things.
I had a lot of words to say for the pompano today. We finally have nice weather and now the damn things do not want to bite. My first anchoring I had 25 to 30 of them skip off my boat and I caught one. The next anchoring I skipped two and had two skips off my boat and never caught one, The next four anchorings I caught nothing, on the next one I caught one. The next three were for nothing, I saw fish at every anchoring. The next to last anchoring I got one to the side of my boat and it got off. I came home and told my husband if my days are going to be like today and yesterday, I might give up fishing and get a job. But I know I will keep going until I get out of this funk I am in.
My husband caught 10 that weighed 23 pounds today, I caught 2 that weigh 5 pounds.

and some words are sound different in different countries...
@irisworld your comment reminded me of a time my English friend said what a sweet car, we should pinch it, and my sister said ok, but I don't know what good it will do, she walked over to the car bent over and pinched it. My English friend had a good laugh and told her pinch meant to steal. I should say, she was kidding about stealing the car.
