RE: Safety Net
Everyone likes to be read and how can one know someone did if there's no comment? One that makes sense and is personal?
If they still expect it is something different. If you always post without receiving any response you stop checking your notifications. You post and most likely leave and are happy if you are rewarded a bit.
Some for sure don't care because a comment means you have to answer which takes time.
Humour?
Sooner or later you will always step on someone's toes. Everyone has a past and some are always hostile, some always think the worst, there are people without a sense of humour, there are who never heard of irony and there are who believe you are joining while the comments is meant seriously. Can this be avoided? I don't think so. Most of us translate and how we express ourselves differ. We also have a different way of thinking and expressing ourselves.
The only thing one can do is ask: what do you mean to say which is hard for most people since they already labelled the speaker.
I don't think there's any way to avoid this. It's not only a difference in culture bu more likely IQ/intellect/education combined with a certain character.
Which options are left? If the comment is not liked ignore the writer in the future and find some like-minded. There are plenty of people one can interact although it takes time to find them (sharing the same interests is a good start).
