There is a proverb that says Don't count your chickens until the eggs are hatched. This proverbs comes true most at times since not all the eggs will end up hatching and some chicks may even die on the spot and before reaching maturity. This is applicable on other spheres of life.

Let us now see how applicable it is in our journey on the steemit platform.

Have you ever found yourself counting your eggs before? If yes, how do you feel when it didn't go as counted.

I was once given a hen when I was little child by a family friend. The hen grew rapidly and started laying eggs. I ate some of the eggs but left some to be hatched.

When the hen laid on the eggs for the period of 21 days, I was so happy and was expecting 9 chicks. Since it was sitting on 9 eggs.

I have already planned and calculated how much I was going to make from selling them off when they grow.

Unfortunately, it did not happen as I envisaged. Only seven eggs hatched, giving me 7 chicks. Then out the seven chicks, only five survived till adulthood.

I felt bad that my dreams did not materialize. But I came to understand in real terms the meaning of the proverb.

How do you handle the idea of counting your eggs before they hatch on Steemit? Do you set realistic expectations or take risks?

Steemit is a platform that I have been in for more than 2 years now. Initially, when I started, I expected all my post to receive upvotes or supports. Infact, when I make post, I will start making plans based on expected returns. But I came to see that it was not a reality. That I am counting my eggs before it hatches.

So right now I plan what to do with my earnings only when it pays out to avoid unrealistic expectations which can be dangerous to health.

I do my best and look forward, hoping to get an upvote attention from the platform.

My steemit slang is always Votes are not guaranteed.

How does counting your eggs apply to life outside of Steemit? Have you learned any lessons about being cautious or optimistic?

I have stated a practical experience of this in the first questions. Counting of eggs apply in almost all spheres of life.

Some people enter into a courtship and look forward to marriage with the expectation that their business efforts or ideas will work and thus made a commitment in the relationship.

When such business development do not materialize and the money did not come, you see them scampering and frustrated.

Thus it is important that we be cautious when making plans based on unrealized expectations. Since it can be very damaging to us emotionally.

Should you focus more on the effort you put in or the potential rewards on Steemit or any platform?

I always tell my new recruits not to focus on what they earn buy look for ways to build themselves on the platform. They should look for ways to be more active and consistent on the platform, make friends and the other side of it will definitely come at the right time.

That is also my determination as a steemian.

How do you balance ambition and counting your eggs? Any strategies for managing expectations while pursuing goals?

A says goes this way expectation postponed makes the heart sick. So it is always good to expect less from any endeavour you may be pursuing.

Having a realistic expectation will help you in determining the level of your investment in the project, especially when finance is involved.

There is also need to be wary of projects with high returns. Any projects with a high rate of return also have high rate of losses. So always give in what you can afford to lose

The steemit platform is one that you are always on a win win situation, depending on your mindset when joining. If you coming in with only making money in mind, you will be definitely disappointed since it is not a get-rich quick scheme. But if you have in mind that you want to learn and improve on yourself while earning in the process, you will never be disappointed.

Conclusion

It is not advisable to count our eggs before they are hatched since not all will successfully hatch. So it is advisable to wait and see the results become we start making plans based on expected results.
