Dear Moderators and the Steemit Community!

I was delighted to find SLC here, but previously, there were restrictions not only for teachers but even for students. It’s wonderful that now many users, both individually and in pairs, can join these courses as students or instructors.

Last season, I did not apply, so I am once again hopeful to submit my application to participate in SLC23.

In the past, I conducted programming lessons, which I plan to return to in future seasons. This time, however, I want to start teaching Geometry.

During the nearly two-month break, I prepared lessons on Geometry. In my country, geometry begins in the 7th grade when students are 13 years old. This course will also start with the basic concepts of Geometry — such as points, segments, lines, rays, angles, length, area, triangles, and more. But it won’t be just theory and problems. There’s a great program called Geogebra, and I will teach geometry using it. Students will also need to complete their homework in this program. Here, they will demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and approach to creating geometric figures. This will make it impossible or at least significantly limit the use of AI, as verbal responses will not be the main focus of the tasks but rather a secondary element that complements the geometric constructions provided through video or GIF animations. When evaluating homework, I will focus primarily on practical execution, and of course, the tasks must include good explanations.

I also plan to offer tasks of two levels for students to choose from: completing easier tasks or a few more challenging ones for more advanced users. Winners will be selected proportionally from these two groups. A few simple tasks to involve as many users as possible, and one or two serious tasks for more experienced users—so everyone stays engaged and can participate.

I am Serhiy from Ukraine. During my school years, I found mathematics easy, and in my later school years, I became interested in computers that appeared in our school. After school, I studied at a place where they taught computer science, and I received a degree as a teacher of mathematics and computer science. For quite a long time, I worked as a software engineer and also spent some time as a mathematics teacher at a school. Over the past few years, I have been helping students with their studies. Now I really enjoy teaching, and it’s wonderful when you do what you love. Many students who struggle with their studies come to me, and I help them.

Approximate Plan for Several Lessons

Lesson 1

In the first lesson, we will get acquainted with Geometry and GeoGebra.
We will cover basic concepts such as: point, segment, ray, line, and angle. We will explore the relationships between two or three lines and the types of angles. We will also learn how to represent these elementary concepts in GeoGebra.

Lesson 2

The triangle and its elements. The triangle is such an interesting figure that, despite its simplicity, entire lessons could be dedicated to it.
We will study: height, angle bisector, median, and perpendicular bisector.

Lesson 3

Circle and its parts and elements. Diameter, radius, chord, segment, sector, and arc. Tangent and secant lines.

Lesson 4

Inscribed and circumscribed circles around a triangle. Central and inscribed angles.

Lesson 5

Vectors. Sum and difference of vectors. The triangle rule and the parallelogram rule.
Examples of simple and more complex tasks.

I enjoy teaching programming and mathematics, and studying Geometry with the GeoGebra program is very interesting and beautiful. Homework can be done independently by recalling forgotten concepts, or younger family members can do it—it’s no less engaging than paper cutting or origami.

You have prepared it well. This makes me remember years ago when I was still in love with mathematics. One of the topics under it that I always find struggling is geometry. Probably I will learn it much more better under you right now
