INTRODUCTION

It’s been a long time I featured here, and not like I am proud to say that, it’s just because of some situations surrounding me lately. But the good news is that I am back. And it’s nice to take part in this interesting contest organized by @steemkidss.
This topic tends to be so tempting because it’s one of my favorites and it might be tempting to write much, but I would try to be brief with my points. I have just a few which are based on personal experience. Please feel free to read them below.

Before I start giving out my points, I would like to define what technology is, perhaps that would help the kids or we lovers of kids to have a clearer view of my about to be made points.

WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?

Technology in a nutshell and in very simple terms can be defined as the bringing together of knowledge for a practical purpose.
In other words, that knowledge makes life either easy or uneasy depending on the usage.

But for me, I won’t say that technology is the worse nightmare that happens to mankind, rather I would say that it all depends on how it is been used, so in other words, technology has its own bad side and good side, I would tell you why.
Talking about the good side, I would say that technology has played a very vital role in the world of humans. First of all, without technology, none of us would be here on this platform, none of us would participate in this contest.

20220131_110205.jpg

It includes the little things that we benefit like the headphones we use, like the internet connection which we are all using in our various locations to access this web, that’s a technology and trust me, without such, we cannot show up here right now. The device we are using to write this contest, be it a Personal Computer(PC), tablet, or smartphone, to transfer our money from wallet to bank account, fetching water in our homes through a running tap, using google maps, etc. All of them are products of technology and we are all benefiting from it. I can count them on and on and on.

So, in my own simple terms, I would say that technology had done great relief to us, humans, in other words, technology has done more good to me.

Here are five examples out of the many technologies which I have benefited from, I would try as much as I can to be diplomatic about this while still making my stand known:

THE INTERNET

This can never be underrated in terms of an easy-going lifestyle for young folks like me and you and even older folks. The internet has played a very vital role in my life because that is where I carry out research and also offer my ideas to otter folks. Without the internet, you can’t see this publication from your location, but because the internet is made available, it becomes easier to see it and also read. Without the internet, I wouldn’t save money in the bank. And lately, technology has made it easier to transfer money from one bank to another and even to buy things from online markets like the Amazons, eBay, Konga, Jumia, etc using our smartphones, apart from that, I can also check my account balance using my smartphone, without going to the bank. All of these are possible because of technology and I like technology.

POS MACHINES

For those of us who are not Nigerians, you may not really understand this, but for some reason, you may wish to do your own research, however, I will still give you a little clue of the point I am about to make now.
To cash out money from the bank using an ATM machine in Nigeria is most times a big challenge because of too many people who also want to cash out.

As a result of limited machines in the banks in different locations, people stand in a queue in other to wait for their turn to cash out and this usually takes time, it could take minutes or even hours just to cash out from your bank. Think about if you were in a haste to cash up with something, would standing in a queue be ideal? Of course not.

But the POS machine makes it easier to cash out at any point and any time without standing in a queue. Very simple.
If you are not in Nigeria, the point I made above might sound a little funny perhaps POS machines are used mainly in shopping malls to pay bills in your country. But trust me, over here it is a big relive in terms of cashing out. This is another way I have benefited from technology.

THE COMPUTER

The computer has been so useful to me. Without a computer, I wouldn’t participate in this contest. And may I remind you that even if you are using a smartphone or tablet to access this web right now, you are using a computer. Your phone is a computer and that is one of the benefits of technology. Out of the 24 hours that made up a day, I spent at least 12 hours using my computer each day. As a matter of fact, that’s where I earned my living. Starting from the simple designs of wedding cards, programs, funeral programs, and other graphic designs. Programming is not out of this box as well. It’s a great relief, I wouldn’t have done it without a computer which is technology.

TRANSLATOR

Last month when the steemit team introduced the curation team applications that would operate SC04 to SC08 accounts, they specifically made it clear that the team members must be from different nationalities. The question now is, How was this supposed to be achieved, when we are not speaking the same language?

Technology made it possible for all the teams to freely communicate with other members who don’t even understand their language using a translator. Isn’t that amazing? I benefited a lot in this since my team was made up of different backgrounds of nationalities, but we were able to communicate freely using the translating bot. Even after that, I still use it to communicate with other users on the steemit blog who doesn’t use the English language. This is another benefit of technology to me.

VGR (VIRTUAL GAMES REALITY)

Before now, sometimes when I watch a movie from my phone or playing a video game from my phone, It becomes bored due to how small my phone was, but with the help of the VGR device, it makes everything easy and lively using my phone, it is as if I am in the scene where the movie was shot because the VGR helps me to see everything including the things I didn’t even notice while watching it from my phone. And playing Video games with this device is very interesting, it looks so real and lively. All this is possible because of technology.

CONCLUSION

Technology has actually affected humans both positively and negatively it all depends on the usage. For instance, when technology came out initially, it was meant to make life easier, it was meant to compliment the things we are doing and also make the task easier for us. Sadly, some have abused technology today.

A case study is the use of social media. Social media was meant to connect friends, colleagues, and family members who are not staying in the same place together at a low cost, but today if not properly used, it becomes time-consuming and even separates family members and friends which was the main aim of introducing that technology.
But since I use it wisely, I wouldn’t side it as a bad innovation, rather I am siding it as a good thing to me and to us all. Please use it wisely. I invite @adylinah, @iddy, and @mile16 to participate in this interesting contest using this link: CONTEST ALERT 👉 TECHNOLOGY HAS DONE MORE GOOD THAN BAD? OR THE OTHER WAY ROUND?.
