INTRODUCTION

Hello beautiful and amazing kids and parents how are you all doing today I hope you all are having a good time, today I will be taking part in this week writing contest organised by @udyliciouz with the theme "Over-populated or underpopulated, which one is better?"

I'm so delighted to welcome you all to my blog today we will be talking about population and all the basic things that falls under it so do well to sit back read, enjoy and learn.

WHAT IS POPULATION

---

According to my own personal understanding of the meaning of population, it can be defined as the total number of people living in a particular geographical area

---

WHAT ARE THE BASIC UNITS OF POPULATION?

---

The basic units of population can simply be refered to as the unit that makes up a population of a particular geographical area and there include an individual, the residential people be it indigens or non-indigens as well as the family

---

---

STATE FIVE FACTORS YOU THINK AFFECT POPULATION GROWTH IN YOUR COUNTRY.

---

The basic factors that I think can affect the growth of population in a country are;

• Birth rate
• Life expectancy
• Death rate
• Migration

BIRTH RATES

---

This refers to the total numbers of birth in any given geographical area and it greatly affects the growth of population in a sense that when there is no child birth there is no increase in population

---

DEATH RATE

---

This can greatly affect the growth of population in a country in a sense that it refers to the total numbers of death of the residents in any geographical area which therefore leads to the decrease in number of the population

---

MIGRATION

---

This simply means the movement of people permanently from one area to another and this people are referred to as migrants

---

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE PROBLEMS OF OVER-POPULATION?

---

There are so many problems associated in an over populated community or country which I will explain below

---

In an over populated country there is always a continuous increase in the demand for goods and services thereby causing inflation which refers to the continuous increase in price of goods and services

---

And it is always worse especially in a country who is not able to meet up with the production needs of the people for example Nigeria is producing rice 🌾 but it's not enough for the whole nation thereby causing it to be expensive as it is selling for 150 naira a cup.

EXPLAIN AT LEAST THREE WAYS IN WHICH POPULATION CAN BE CONTROLLED.

Below are some of the three basic ways in which population can be controlled and there are;

• Education
• Family planning
• Government policy

---

EDUCATION

---

There's need for education in other to educate the women and to warn and expose to them the dangers involved in early marriage and the negative effects it does on population

---

FAMILY PLANNING

---

There is need for family planning as it helps married couples to be able to plan and control the level of child birth through out the country

---

GOVERNMENT POLICY

---

Government should set up a policy that will be drafted into the constitution which will warn the public about excessive child bearing

---

DO YOU KNOW THE POPULATION OF THE STEEMIT USERS? CAN YOU ESTIMATE?

---

Actually yes, I think I know the total population of the steemit users base on the steemit policy which stats that all new comers should be subscribe to the new comers community in other to make their achievements one entry

---

So according to my estimation the total population of steemit users here on steemit are the total numbers of community members in the new comers community which are 36,044

---

---

OVER-POPULATION OR UNDERPOPULATED, WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

---

In the case of a country whose production level are high such as China, Germany etc who are actively producing goods and food for consumption to the extent of exporting it to other countries I think I will go for over population

---

But in a country like Nigeria who are really depending on imported materials from other countries for survival I think underpopulation would be just fine so as to help reduce poverty rate in the country

---
