RE: Wednesday – I spy with my little eye – Mini contest (32)
Greetings @patjewell
Answer is word Community-run!!
I have chose "community-run" because it is a hyphenated compound word that fits all the criteria :
It is a 12-letter word.
It is a hyphenated compound word.
It can be associated with performing duties in neighborhoods.
It does not have to be seen in cobbled streets, which could suggest it is a modern or current practice.
"Community-run" suggests a group of individuals or an organization that is responsible for running or managing activities or services in a particular neighborhood or community. This could include initiatives related to education, healthcare, safety, or social services, among others..

I love the way you put your thinking cap on and analyze the words. That is what this game is all about.(•ิ‿•ิ)
It is a good guess but look again. The word starts with "K"
Although there are lots of possibilities of answers like kerosene lamp, kaleidoscope but I wanted to choose word "knocker-upper."
"Knocker-upper" ( profession) is a compound noun that refers to a person who used to go around neighborhoods in the early morning, tapping on windows with a long stick or rod to wake people up. The profession was prevalent in the 19th and early 20th centuries before alarm clocks became widely available. The word "knocker-upper" is a combination of "knocker" (meaning someone or something that knocks) and "upper" (referring to the early morning, as in "up and at 'em").It is no longer seen in cobbled streets because the profession became obsolete with the widespread availability of alarm clocks.
You can only enter once my friend.
So often we miss the rules. I know, I've also done it before.
Good luck for the next round!
