Writing Contest: Over populated Or Under-populated Which One Is Better || @joymm

Hi friends.. how are you doing today? I trust you are healthy and okay. It's my gratitude to welcome everyone of you to this week writing contest. This is my entry;

What is population

Population can be described as the number of people or inhabitants that lives in a particular place, community or country. In other words, we can also defined population as the set group of individuals which comprises a tribe, nation, people, city, with a common characteristic.

What are the basic units of population?

• The family: Family is the smallest unit of a social organization where population exists in a society or country. Through a family, there will be reproduction and population increases.

• The Community: In this aspect, we talk about the group of people that lives together in an area. They tend to share one environment, resources, aspirations, values, languages, etc. You can find a community in a village, city, town, country, etc.

State five factors you think affect population growth in your country.

The population in my country, Nigeria increases daily. The main factors which affects the population growth includes;

• Death rate.
• Birth rate.
• Lack of family planning.
• Lack of knowledge on how our teenagers should prevent pregnancy.
• Human congestion, etc.

What are the possible problems of over-population?

Nigeria is a very good example of an over-populated country. The main problem which makes a country overpopulated is that there is no enough resources to support and help people who lives there. Another point is high farm practices. In a region where their is overpopulation, people living there resort to farming which will produce and yeild more food products which helps them with cheaper inputs.

Explain at least three ways in which population can be controlled.

The following are the ways in which we can control population;

• Education: This is the backbone of an economy and individual. People who are educated are being acknowledge by hardship of having a large family size. Most people now prefers a delayed marriage and adapt to a small family.

• Proper Family Planning: Family Planning matters alot. This method implies that parents should first determine and consider the number of kids they desireand time spacing for their births.

• Destroying the barriers of contraception: The government needs to make sure that everyone in the society has the ability to access and purchase cheap contraception tools which will help our teenagers to avoid unwanted child birth.

Do you know the population of the steemit users? Can you estimate?

Actually, I can't jump to conclusions about knowing how many people who are here on steemit. But if I should say, maybe 1.5 million people are on this platform. So it can never be estimated because everyday we keep on getting newbies on this platform which makes more populated.

Over-populated or underpopulated, which one is better?

For me, I prefer under populated. Why? This is because once a society or country is under populated, things will move well without no blockage. But if a society is over- populated, there will be lack of natural resources, housing, no water supply, etc. So, in my opinion I would prefer an under populated country.
