Winners of Capturing Moments Wk3: Spotting Differences In Mobile Camera Positioning
We have come to the end of our tutorial for week 3 and those who participated in the tutorials did excellently well. I'm just so impressed you guys are getting a sense of what I'm teaching even though it may take time to master the practical aspect. We had 4 entries who participated and answered the tutorial questions given.
Last week, we were talking about spotting differences in in mobile camera positioning. Some pictures were highlighted for this purpose and used to test if we would be able to spot the differences in how a mobile phone is positioned to bring about an image. From your entries, I discovered some of us did well in explaining the differences and also did well in the practical aspect. I'll be throwing more light as a correction to all.
Spot the differences between picture A and picture B in terms of how the mobile camera is placed and the distance. |

Now, concerning these pictures, we can see both were taken in the same place but there are some contrasting characteristics between these two pictures in terms of positioning.
Picture A | Picture B |
---|---|
Taken in portrait mode | Taken in landscape mode |
Camera was Zoomed to capture the insect | Camera wasn't zoomed to capture the insect |
Picture A is much more clear and visible | Picture B is not that clear and detailed |
The way picture A was taken in such a way that the insect can be captured from a distance without the insect running | Picture B was captured in such a way that the camera wasn't zoomed but taken closer to the insect. |
The essence of this comparison is for us to know how to take quality pictures from distances like the sun and the likes of them that can be captured from a distance. That's when positioning comes in and note, the pictures aren't taken with your phone camera on top of the image but beside it.

The two pictures are those of a family sitting on a chair but the differences are in how the camera is placed. **If you look at the first picture, you'll see that the person snapping lowered himself to the height of the couple, levelling his mobile camera to their head so they won't look small in size.
The second picture was a direct opposite as the photographer was standing to snap coming sitting in a lowered position. His mobile camera is above the family which doesn't give a good detail.

For the last question where I asked you guys to capture someone sitting down, only @deelyt tried in levelling her mobile camera to the head of the person sitting. You guys did great sha. Practice makes perfect. Next time, try using the differences in sitting position shown above to create quality pictures.
