You are too young and live in a different world. I find it hard to believe you will fall asleep if you watch an opera. It's a play where people sing instead of talking, for sure the more modern musical is based on it.
I believe it's mention in a comic "Kuifje" as well that only BIG people can sing...
BTW do you have a musical ear at all?

Sound of music.. one of my childhood favorite movie. If it’s up to me, I won’t classify it under opera. Sound of music was so interesting from the beginning till the ending.
My mums all time favorite was “king and I”.. that’s another musical film i could remember when I was much smaller.
I did not say it's opera but the follow up/more modern version of opera just like modern music has classical music as it's basis. Take Queen for example.
