#BeerSaturday - This Week in Beerology
This week in the life of the STEEM Beerologist, it has all been about sampling new draft, exploring pubs & breweries, and setting up the next few adventures in Beerology. Next week will be one of the big announcements but this week, I go through the delicious process of research, negotiation and deal closing.
Start the Week off Right
Beerology doesn't often earn me Wifepoints© The solo trips, evening beers, time invested I stay at the top of my game. It can take a toll unless you build a family strategy into your game. I was able to come up with a strategy to hit a couple of those beers with one stone and turned a trip to Cowbell Brewery https://cowbellbrewing.com/ into Date Day with my better half! The only beer she likes that is not plain old lager or ale happens to be the Absent Landlord https://cowbellbrewing.com/beer/absent-landlord which is a country kolsch. A nice trip together is worth a nice parcel of Wifepoints© but I feel I earned double by hand crafting this flight full of beers she may like. It was a hit and I will get a nice @tasteem review out when there is a contest that is made for drinks with friends, where to go on a blind date, or something of the like instead of the coffee and noodle reviews they have featured this week.
Such a Sweet Sour
The second stop on my themed tour was not to a brewery, but a fantastic client that happens to boast not only a fantastic craft beer line-up, but themed beer dinners throughout the winter which are an instant classic. It was the call of the marketing that drew me in to The Red Rabbit https://www.redrabbitresto.com/ as my buddy Adam the Beard (featured in the lower right of the main page) showed a cask of sour! Not only that, but it was a sour from one of the jewels in local brewing and uncontested king of sours, Half Hours on Earth Brewing https://www.halfhoursonearth.com/ This Happy Cake chocolate strawberry sour https://www.halfhoursonearth.com/collections/355-ml-cans/products/happy-cake-355-ml really puts a smile on the face of even the most beered-out connoisseur. The mix of sour, bold, sweet and strong is something really special and the sour fanatics around should be salivating seriously. I took the snap of this delicious beverage in front of the themed illustration created to capture the how fun and colourful the staff and restaurant are.
One of those perfect little moments that makes a specialty like beerology so uniquely rewarding.
Mixing Business with Pleasure
I suppose that is really the essence of my passion for this line of business as it really is about the proper balance with beer as the fulcrum. The next stop on my tour was a strategic planning meeting with a partner at the Revival House https://www.revival.house/ which my followers will recall from past posts. I really wish I could announce the plans we are finalizing but they aren't quite nailed shut yet. A couple hints for the people on the edge of their seats would be the foreshadowing of an extremely big and beery event, and a little exciting change in the draft offerings at this majestic venue. Fear not, simply hit follow under my profile and I will get to it in the next entry of #beersaturday.
In the meantime, I was treated to a new beer that had me impressed! I will have to admit that I have not been overly impressed with Four Fathers Brewing https://fourfathersbrewing.ca/ in nearby Cambridge. They must have had an effective sales blitz in the area because they have popped up on tap in a couple places I have visited recently. This perfectly poured pint is of The Starter https://fourfathersbrewing.ca/product/the-starter/ variety which I think I have had in the past. That generally says it all as I probably filed it under "I don't hate this" and promptly forgot about it. It turned out to be rather tasty and satisfying on tap when enjoying the first couple pulls from a fresh keg. You can see the Shevchenko Ukrainian Dunkel https://fourfathersbrewing.ca/product/shevchenko/ in the background in my partner's patented half pint and I can tell you it made for a great meeting. We have a couple busy and fun months ahead of us just for Revival House!
What the Fresh Hell is THAT?!?
I am probably shooting myself in the foot by posting this pic while hoping that people will pause to read the previous sections. Long story short, I was scoping out some wiring for a client who also is a purveyor of perfect pilsner and the job took me into the basement of one of the oldest buildings in town. This basement was creepy enough with its dark and dungeonous corners and forgotten musty smell. Well, this friendly fellow happened to be hiding behind one of the ancient support posts as I was following the path of a wire so I didn't even see him there til I was already weirded out and 2 feet away.
Beerology has set me up with nerves of steel though and I barely even flinched. Mission accomplished in restoring internet and most likely in freaking out my readers who have an aversion to clowns.
It is going to be an exciting couple of months in Beerology for me and I can't wait to share the stories. Be sure they will be suddsy, hoppy, businessy and fun.
Cheers to that!
