Why a colonoscopy is awesome and fun! And how traveling prepares you for it.

Colonoscopies are fun! And awesome! Let me show it to you.

When I turned 50 years old, I postponed having my colonoscopy for the following 2 whole years, horrified by the many miserable stories of people who already had the procedure.

I mean, I diligently made an appointment, and postponed it so may times, that two years later, I still had not done it. Talk about serial procrastinating.

Now, I am here to tell the fearful ones around here that colonoscopies are absolutely awesome!

Yes, awesome, because they actually prevent cancer from forming.  While they check you "up there" they remove thingies that could potentially become cancers down the road.  Isn't that amazing?  So you get a great chance that you don't have to die of the second leading cause of cancer death in the US.

If that's not convincing enough, there is the anesthesiology part of it.  You tell the doctor your name while she starts administering the sedative, and the next thing you know, she says that you are all done!!  What happens in between is a fascinating mystery.  Maybe they throw a party around your hospital bed and laugh about how scared you looked and how much your butt stinks.

And, if you have traveled like me and have known Montezuma's revenge, a.k.a. traveler's diarrhea, the one that you get from drinking the preparation liquid beforehand is nothing to brag about! A walk in the park, really. More like a cleansing ritual for all the junk food you absorbed by age 50.  I am going to light a candle to Montezuma. The preparation does not taste like much unless you add the flavor. I wish I read the instructions better so I would not have added the flavor, to avoid having more chemicals in my body.  (Note to self: read the small prints, too).

In most cases, you immediately get your results after the procedure. Imagine, it's like buying a lottery ticket and you immediately know you won.

Assuming that you get good news after you are done with the colonoscopy, you leave the doctor's office feeling great, and having your best sleep ever afterwards.

And...if you get bad news, believe me, they would be much worse news if you had waited longer.

So, if you are 50 years old or older, stop procrastinating, go for it, have fun, and celebrate that you are alive and you are in for a treat!!!

Did I convince you?

If so,....let me know how it goes.

To your health,

@thisgirl

Funny! Your sense of humor is so dry, some people might think you are serious. I know; you are serious, just mixed with that dryyyy humor!

Thanks........?

I actually did not know what dry humor is, and I had to google it.

I found out that if you have dry humor "You leave people thinking “Wow, I would have never thought of that, but it’s so clever.” "

I dig that!!!!! Yes to dry humor!
