The Benefits of Local Flower Pollen to Reduce Allergies, Balance Hormones, and Increase Energy

Flowers are blooming everywhere!!! Did you know...Flower Pollen can enhance athletic performance, libido, and energy levels?

I recently blogged about the benefits of pine pollen and how to harvest and make your own tincture here.

If you missed pine pollen season...it's okay!!! You can still reap the hormonal-balancing benefits of pollen from other flowers.

Below is a photo of a local herb here that is currently in flower, called "Mormon Tea" or "Ephedra". I harvested a few bundles of this on my hike a few days ago and brought it home to dry a few days.

There are several options as far as consuming the pollen goes. Personally, we like to make sun teas with the herbs that we gather on our hikes, and ferment them with local wild yeast.

Another option is to make your own tincture with ethanol or glycerin. There are many youtube videos out there describing the process.

And yet another option is to simply gather the pollen, flower and all if necessary, and blend it up in a yummy smoothie.

Studies of flower pollen extract show the following benefits:

✅Helps with allergies, especially Hay Fever and any pollen allergy
✅Shown to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells and tumor cells

✅Shows prophylactic effect against symptoms of the common cold

✅Protects from free radical damage
✅Helps the immune system to resist infections

In a profile of flower pollen’s nutritional makeup, herbalist Michael Tierra points out that flower pollen contains more chemical constituents, a total of 22, than are found in any other botanical product. “The more important of these,” he writes, “are ten amino acids, enzymes, and a string of minerals, including trace minerals, all known vitamins, antibiotic substances and steroid hormones.”

Enhances Physical Performance

"Contending that “no single food on Earth has more essential food factors,” pharmacist Phillipe Moser reports that flower pollen supplements have helped a number of world-class athletes to improve their energy level and physical performance. In an article on the Insiders Health website, Moser cites an Italian study that examined the effects of micronized flower pollen on members of nine different Italian soccer teams. They found that athletes taking the flower pollen supplements for only 10 days increased energy levels by 70 percent, boosted stamina by 163 percent and more than doubled essential oxygen intake."
