197,703 Total Team Reps (+2,084) - Steemit Daily 100+ Rep Fitness Challenge - Day # 88 - 3/4/18

in #health7 years ago (edited)

More hard work by 11 Steemians for 2,084 reps today (197,703 overall), done across 31 people from 9 countries in 87 days! We should hit 200K exercise reps as a team in a day or two. That's pretty huge. Check out a thank you post I wrote today LINKED HERE. Congrats to @mgood for crossing 10,000 reps (1 SBD paid).

The Challenge:

At least 100 honest reps of exercise every day. No excuses. No bullsh*t. Just actions, positivity, and results. Only post AFTER your reps are done. Always support each other.

  • You choose what types of exercise reps to do.
  • 30 minutes of fitness walking, running, spinning, biking, cross-country skiing, etc., can count as 100 reps if you need to rest or can't use weights.
  • I'll award 1 SBD for every individual 10,000 rep milestone. (9 SBD paid out)
  • I manually process and update all cumulative figures daily. Not easy...

Conditions:

  • Weights not required.
  • Do real reps with good form, aiming for 100+.
  • Start your reply with "Challenge Completed".
  • Reply with the type of exercises and # of reps for each in a list.
  • Cumulative tallies appreciated as a separate line.
  • Only submit reps you've done, not ones you're planning to do.
  • Use the tag "fitnesschallenge".
  • Upvoting or resteeming is appreciated to reach more people.

Advice:

  • Stretch before and after your exercise.
  • Breathe properly on each rep.
  • Quality over quantity.
  • Hydrate throughout and afterwards.
  • Eat a healthy snack with protein after.
  • Do exercises you enjoy at first to build momentum for harder ones.
  • Take before pictures to appreciate your results over time.
  • Feel good about your accomplishments.

My Daily Challenge Completed - 100 reps:

-100 Bar Calf Raises (75 pounds)

My Daily Assessment:

-Still exhausted from playing basketball and tennis yesterday. So many stabilizer muscles I apparently used were so sore today from the basketball. I'm happy about this and can't wait to play again to get back in shape. Of all things that are sore, my calves were the least, but that'll change tomorrow.

Feedback from @mightpossibly:

"I find it deeply satisfying to do these reps, which is a big deal. I've always hated the gym and prefer to exercise at home. But I've lacked the discipline to do it. It sort of feels like I have gym buddies now, without the hassle of going to the gym."

Feedback from @notorious562:

"I seriously cannot explain how much this group pushes and motivate me to keep working harder. I love this fitness community and the support and encouragement will help us achieve our goals."

Thank you @steemmatt for the 1 SBD. I had forgotten all about that. I've been doing this challenge for 38 days. Time sure goes by quickly.

  • 12x2+12x2+25x2 Triceps Cable Superset (rope+bar) (can't remember - last set I decreased weight every time I couldn't go further) (98)

I had to exercise alone today, so I was forced to figure out all the exercise names. This is pretty much what I've been doing every monday for the past month.

Assessment: My triceps are definitely getting stronger and I'm finally starting to feel my chest muscles when doing the chest exercises. Also trying to eat at least 4 times a day, preferably 5 times a day.

Here's my typical diet these days:

  • breakfast: Oatmeal with nuts (cinnamon, a pinch of salt, no sugar)
  • lunch: 3 whole grain slices of bread with fish and cheese + a full salad
  • dinner: something good
  • in-between meal - a shake/protein bar or similar
  • supper: 2-3 slices of whole grain bread with eggs and some vegetables on the side

Great workout! Looks like you had a monster workout today!

Thanks, it really was. This is actually my regular workout, I just hadn't identified all the exercises until now. I'll try to make similarly detailed reports like this in the future. Maybe it will be useful to someone.

Oh I see. Yeah i think it may I am always looking for new ideas to change up my workout routine. I like to target different muscles with different movements that are mentioned here.

A very thoughtful report today. I just realized that dinner and supper are different meals to some people in the world. In the US, they sort of both mean dinner.

Interesting. I thought supper meant "evening meal after dinner / just before bed". I might also be wrong. -- Ah, here it is: https://www.wordnik.com/words/supper

We're both correct:

A light evening meal when dinner is taken at midday.

Food consumed before going to bed.

Any meal eaten in the evening; dinner eaten in the evening, rather than at noon.

To eat dinner.

Another level up. What type of results are you seeing in recent weeks with this?

In all honestly, I feel as though I can barely see any difference at all from an aesthetic point of view. This is the main driving factor behind my not posting a 30 day follow up on pictures. My girlfriend tells me that its all in my head and that she can definitely see improvement; though I take that with a grain of salt, because, well... she's my girlfriend lol. Perhaps if I just bite the bullet and take the pictures, I'll actually see the improvement as well.

My weight has stayed relatively the same though. Depending on the day, I'm fluctuating between 186-189 lbs on the scale. While it's possible, I have little faith in the idea that I've burned off and added an equal amount of fat/muscle.

Performance wise, my mobility and flexibility are both leaps and bounds what they were a month ago. Doing the Nike mobility workouts have been awesome, and Megan constantly tells me that she sees an improvement in my posture. As far as weight goes, I've also seen these numbers go up, but I think it has more to do with my body recognizing and adapting to the higher reps and creating more efficient responses to the weight.

Thanks for checking in too! Coming back to your page every day definitely helps me keep myself accountable.
