We've all been there at one time, whether walking past them at a local mall or seeing them as we enter a grocery store. Cinnamon Buns have long been a favorite breakfast treat that we know are not good for us but quite frankly we just don't care. With coffee or milk, these heavenly gobs of goodness entice random thoughts of bliss and tend to make one's body tingle.

CINNAMON the spice behind these Demonic Treats have a host of health benefits you probably aren't even aware of. The benefits are many, and the studies over the years reinforce them.

Let's start with the two most commonly types of cinnamon: Ceylon and Cassia

Ceylon tends to be pricier, sweeter, tan in color, and more fragile.
Cassia is less expensive, full-bodied, dark brown/reddish, and tough in texture.

Some Health Benefits that have been well studied and documented include:

  • ANTIOXIDENT BOOSTER
  • SUPPORT WEIGHT LOSS
  • CANCER FIGHTER
  • LOWER BLOOD SUGAR
  • PREVENT HEART DISEASE

So go ahead and have that sticky treat from time to time but REALLY think about incorporating the Spice in your daily health regime.

I learnt about many benefits of cinnamon sometime ago. I usually use it for spiced tea , cooking and baking. It gives a nice flavor in addition to the health advantages.

Great post; informs the viewer well. I learnt about the health benefits from the guy behind AthleanX, Jeff Cavaliere. I try to consume at least one teaspoon a day (pure stuff; not the cinnamon sugar crap!) to maximize benefits and have it in my espresso every morning. I love it!

Thanks @kwahzee
I enjoy it in my green tea!

I had recently heard some good stuff about cinnamon :) and since we all love it anyway, I have incorporated it into things like shake n bake for chicken. I am sure one of the colonels secret ingredients is cinnamon as several people thought it tasted like Kentucky Fried Chicken lol. Good stuff!

@tfhg
I think you are right about KFC using it as one of their secret ingredients!

@food-trail
I'd like to know what else is in that recipe!

Right!?! :)

I've been using cinnamon to lower my blood sugar and at my last check i was within the healthy range again. I just posted about the diabetes epidemic and i think cinnamon along with apple cider vinegar can be interesting weapons against it.

Of course, always seek the advice of your doctor before starting any regime.

@numpypython
I've heard Apple Cider Vinegar is a Great add-on in conjunction with Cinnamon. I might have to give it a try. Thanks.

Does the less expensive cinnamon have the same benefits as the other?

@cullyguy
I have read arguments on both sides. Some say Yes and some say No. I have used both and have noticed the same results regarding my blood sugar tests. I tend to stick to the better tasting Ceylon. Hope this helps.

I have thought about using cinnamon but never have. Sounds like it has some benefits
