RE: The Art of Diagnosing: Understanding the Difference Between a Symptom and a Sign.
I am trying to get to the underlying cause of my illness - it's difficult to know what is working when I am trying everything at once - but all I have ever known is to throw myself into things - by doing too much I cause ill health due to stress, this is part of it. Nutrition and exercise as well as receiving the right therapy is important too - but how much of illness is the mind, how much is the body? Is one more important than the other or are they both important? So many questions.
Sometimes you can't reduce down what the effective treatment is.
Healing as a result of many synergistic effects rather then one large overpowering process which is why pharmaceuticals don't work as well as most people hope that they will.
Yes, I discovered this intuitively, and then began learning about how to treat the body holistically. When you throw a lot of things into the mix at once it's hard to really gauge the effect of each individual therapy. I have given up using painkillers, and only use pharmaceuticals occasionally, as I have found that they don't work long term anyway.
Suppressing symptoms is hardly a long term strategy. But western medicine seems to think it is a good idea.
