In whatever form it is consumed, as an ingredient in food and beverages or as a dietary supplement, its effect on burning fat is very important.

According to a new meta-analysis published in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, spicy ginger, more commonly known as ginger, can be a natural "weapon" against obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and other chronic conditions Associated with excessive fat accumulation in the body.

Although scientists are still unable to give formal recommendations on the exact amount we need to consume on a daily basis, they say it's good to add or increase it in our diet.

The meta-analysis, based on 60 studies previously conducted in a laboratory, experimental or human environment, concluded that "generally, ginger has a beneficial effect on obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and Related disorders, "said the scientists from China's Agricultural University, according to TIME.

Scientists have focused their research on the various aspects of the metabolic syndrome, namely the combination of three or more risk factors for type 2 diabetes and heart disease (mainly hypertension, elevated sugar, belly fat, low HDL cholesterol, increased triglycerides). As they themselves point out, the metabolic syndrome "is an intensifying health problem that is pandemic, with more than a quarter of the world's population."

Reasonably, the medical community's interest in finding effective - if possible natural - strategies to prevent and deal with metabolic syndrome is enormous. Chinese scientists chose to study ginger because it is one of the most popular spices in the world but also because it has a long history as a natural remedy for various health problems due to its numerous phytochemical and antioxidant properties.

The mechanisms behind ginger's "superpowers" are many, according to new findings. Among others, meta-analysis indicates that spice is involved in burning fat, digesting carbohydrates and releasing insulin. At the same time, ginger has proven to block the oxidative stress process (a form of cell aging), has anti-inflammatory action, lowers cholesterol and helps control blood pressure. Finally, it is estimated that it can even reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, ie the accumulation of dangerous fat in the arteries.

Testing in humans in particular suggests that ginger enhances burns, reduces hunger and is associated with weight loss in overweight individuals. It has also been associated with positive changes in cholesterol, sugar, blood pressure and inflammation markers but also in liver health.
