What is the difference between ego and attitude?

Hello Friends on Steemit!

Here is my today's post on a very interesting topic of Ego and Attitude. I am writing this post only because, I recently experienced something same for me from one of my friend. We often consider Ego and Attitude same and make no difference while judging others on basis of their ego or attitude or even self-respect.

So, let us first understand what both are.

Ego means – your position, your locus, where are you, who are you. Ego means, your answer to the question, ‘Who am I?’ Ego says,”I am something”, and that something comes from outside. Right? The moment you are something, there will be an attitude associated with that identity.

To be something is an identity, and with every identity, there is an attitude. The moment you have an identity, attitude comes along with it. Ego leads to attitude, because Ego says, ‘I am something’, and with that something comes a particular attitude. For example, if you have been told all along that you are very, very hesitant and you have great fear of standing on the podium, and you internalize it, you start believing in it, then you would say, ‘I am an introvert fellow who does not like to socialize too much.’ It has now become a deep-seated belief within you. The immediate result of this will be an attitude towards many things. You will now not want to attend HIDP classes because you now believe that you will be forced to speak in front of others. If you come across a situation where you will have to face an audience, your attitude will be, ‘Avoid, just avoid, run away’.

With every statement of ego, comes a statement of attitude, and these two are very, very closely linked. In fact, all aspects of our attitude come from a corresponding aspect of the Ego. So wherever and whenever you are able to detect a particular attitude in yourself, attitude towards anything; towards people, towards food, towards dress, towards country, towards studies, towards career, whenever you are able to detect a particular attitude, it would be a good exercise to find out the ego statement from which it is coming. It is because that particular attitude will be necessarily based upon Ego.

Story:
Ram and Ravan are students in a graduation college. Ram is a average student but does pretty hard work to achieve anything while helping others and end up in above average performance. Unlike Ram, Ravan is a talented and skillful in all aspects and his performance levels are in best figures but he always thinks about himself first.

Along with other students, both have applied for job placements.

Ravan knows that he can only get the job among all the students and he performed in the interview like he is the only right candidate and he is selected. This is the end of Ravan story.

Ram knows that he can also get the job among all the students and he performed in the interview like he is also the right candidate and he is rejected. He tried other jobs yet failed again. After many failure trials he decided to study further and he completed his masters with flying colors. He decided to start his own start up with all his learned skills and resources, abilities. His venture started progressing collectively.
This is the end of Ram story.

In the both the stories they are right in their thinking but all matters how they perceive their life. One stucked in his thinking. Other explored in his thinking. This is the difference between ego and attitude.
