Design with canva

A world without visual aids is like a candle without Light at night. Is of no use right? yes because we really can't see with it.

So many businesses, so many activities that is going on in the world today is successful with the help of graphic design. And of course as a content creators we need to know graphic designs as we make use of it in our daily life. For this reason I so much appreciate this topic and hopefully I'm willing to learn this course and take it serious. Thank you @lhorgic for this topic, to begin I'll like to explain in my own words how I understand graphic design from the course outline.

Question 1: What is Graphic Design?

Graphic design is an art of sending message to our audience through visual aids.

From my own perspective out of the different types of communication, visual aids are really easy to understand, easy to remember and easily captures interest of the viewers.

I now understand why I feel this way about graphics, because from this course outline, I learnt that visual elements which includes colours, shapes, images, lines and logo etc. is what helps in conveying messages that captures the interest of our audience which makes it easy to understand.

Irrespective of the different kinds of design it is easy to create something that our audience will understand based on the principles of graphics designs.

• Question 2: Explain 3 principles of Graphic Design

Based on my level of understanding from the class, I will like to talk about Contrast, Balance and Rythm.

Contrast; This principle helps a viewer to identify or differentiate between multiple elements that has the same similarities, It is an important principle when it comes to graphic.

Therefore, in this case, you need to be creating something that has opposite value of either the color, shape, pattern, size or anything that is similar. This will make the elements to be outstanding from the rest of the designs. In this way, it will draw attention to a main point in view, it will also help in highlighting the important information and to add meaning to the design.

Balance This principle helps to create balance to a graphic designs making it look more beautiful and sending out well distributed natural information to the audience. Just as the teacher mentioned in his outline that it "distribute weight evenly in a design."

If a design is not balance, definitely it will be so obvious to notice it and it may distract the audience from reading the information that needed to be pass on and concentrate on the graphics because it doesn't look natural. Therefore, this principle should be observed while making graphic design.

Rhythm This principle helps to create a design uniformly when repeating elements. So it therefore means that, elements such as shapes, colour, size, pattern texture etc. need to be repeatedly used in a rhythm when used in creating graphic art to make an organised composition.

This will help the viewer to at least gaze through the information with a flow of understanding and eagerness to continue reading.

• Question 3: Practically show us how to make the graphical image below.

I turn up my canva app to create this same design and with the guide from this week lesson, I was able to create this design.

Let's follow the steps

IMG_20240913_003925.jpg1IMG_20240913_004023.jpg2IMG_20240913_004307.jpg3
  1. I clicked on the create botton that is represented by the symbol + a pop up appears.

  2. On this pop up page, I selected "Instagram 1080x1080" based on the required size and dimension in the homework.

  3. A working space is created, then I selected colour to change the background to black.

To create elements, I do the following

7 Click on the the elements, then click on the + symbol that appears on the top of the element to duplicate the elements.

8 Select two elements at a time, a pop up notification will appear, asking to group the elements to balance it.

9 I changed one element to yellow colour
